The next day, Lisa woke up alone in bed with a little headache. Then she remembered last night. She felt like a big stone had been removed from her heart. She smiled, happy that aside from her friends, there were people who genuinely cared for her.
When she went into the kitchen, she saw Jennie and Mrs. Kim cooking, and Ella sitting at the dining table talking to them; she ruffled Ella's hair.
"Good morning, Lisa unnie," Ella greeted happily.
Jennie and Mrs Kim turned to look at Lisa. They didn't know how Lisa's mood was today, so they just stared.
Lisa saw their expressions, so she gave them her best smile and greeted them back.
"Good morning, ladies," and Jennie melted right there, forgetting to greet back.
Lisa and Jennie were staring at each other, smiling as if they were the only ones in the room.
Watching Lisa's expression, Mrs Kim just shook her head.
"Good morning, sweetie. Did you sleep well last night?" Mrs. Kim asked.
"Yes, Aunty, and thank you," Lisa replied and gave a flying kiss to Mrs. Kim.
Mrs Kim just laughed and pretended to catch the kiss, and they both laughed.
"ARE YOU FLIRTING WITH MY MOM, LISA???
HOW DARE YOU.
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FLIRT WITH ME,
YOU DUMB SKULL."
Jennie thought. She was just frustrated.
Breakfast was no fun for Jennie because Mrs Kim was serving food to Lisa and even feeding her. It's not like Jennie is jealous of her mother; that would be immature to think. She just hoped that instead of her mother, it should be her.
Ella and Lisa were watching TV, and Jennie was about to join them, but her mom called her.
"I have something to talk to you, darling."
They both went to Mrs Kim's room.Mrs Kim’s POV
I watched Jennie sitting across from me, fidgeting slightly, her eyes darting between her phone and the window. There was something on her mind. Something she wasn’t saying.
I recalled a conversation from a few days ago that she likes someone but it's complicated.
I thought she liked someone from the industry, but today, seeing how Jennie interacted with Lisa, it all started to fall into place. The way Jennie watched Lisa when she thought no one was looking, the smile that always seemed to reach her eyes when Lisa was around—it reminded me of how I used to feel when I first met Jennie’s father. That warmth, that nervous energy. I had my suspicions.
And Lisa, that silly kid, has already fallen hard for Jennie. She is head over heels for Jennie. You can tell it with only one glance.
"Jennie,"
I began gently, trying to keep my tone soft so she wouldn’t feel attacked,
"You know, you told me on the phone that you like someone. Can you tell me who it is?"
Her shoulders tensed, and she glanced at me, her expression suddenly guarded.
“Oh... yeah, It was nothing serious, Mom,”
she said quickly, but I could see the anxiety in her eyes.
"Not serious?"
I asked, leaning forward slightly.
