Lisa’s POV

I was pacing nervously in the living room, the flowers clutched tightly in my hands. My heart was racing. This was it. I was going to confess to Jennie. Mrs. Kim had been cheering me on, telling me that I had nothing to worry about.

I nodded, trying to muster up some of that confidence. I had it all planned out—
when Jennie came back from the market,

I would take her aside,

give her the flowers,

and confess everything.

Easy, right?

But the second I heard the door open and saw Jennie coming back from the market, all the confidence I had built up vanished into thin air. My stomach did a flip, and without thinking, I quickly hid the flowers behind my back.

Mrs. Kim, on the other hand, was not having it. She gave me an exasperated look, shaking her head at my cowardice.

Before I could react, she gave me a little push toward Jennie, nearly sending me straight into her back. I stumbled but caught myself just in time, my heart pounding in my chest as I stood frozen behind Jennie.

I could feel Mrs. Kim’s eyes boring into me, and I dared to glance at her. She was making the funniest, most exaggerated encouraging faces, silently mouthing,

“Go on, kiss her!”

My eyes went wide, and I shook my head vigorously.

"No way,"

I mouthed back, my panic growing. There was absolutely no way I was going to do that!

Mrs. Kim shot me a playful look as if to say,

"Don’t be ridiculous!"

She was clearly enjoying herself, but I was dying inside. Jennie was completely oblivious, busy with the groceries she was carrying, but the air around us felt like it was buzzing with awkward energy.

I was praying that Jennie wouldn’t turn around,

but of course,

fate had other plans.

Sensing something was off, she glanced over her shoulder, and I panicked. Without thinking, I immediately threw my arms around Mrs. Kim in a hug, pulling her into an embrace. Mrs. Kim, to her credit, caught on fast and hugged me back with a grin.

“What... are you two doing?”

Jennie asked, looking at us with a raised eyebrow.

I could feel my face burning with embarrassment. My mind raced to come up with an explanation, but nothing made sense. I opened my mouth to say something—anything—but all that came out was a jumble of words.

“Uh... we were... just... hugging!”

I blurted out, squeezing Mrs. Kim tighter.

Mrs. Kim, bless her, nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes! Hugging! Lisa just... needed a hug, you know, it’s... a hug moment.”

Jennie stared at us for a second, her face a mix of confusion and amusement. I braced myself for her to ask more questions, but instead, she just shook her head and smiled.

“Well, alright then,”

She said, laughing softly.

“You two are weird.”

I sighed in relief as Jennie walked past us, heading into the kitchen. The moment she was out of sight, I pulled away from Mrs. Kim and groaned, my heart still pounding from the near disaster. Mrs. Kim was chuckling softly, clearly finding the whole situation hilarious.
