“Aunty… I-I can’t accept this. It’s meant for someone special, and—”

“You are special, Lisa,”

Mrs Kim interrupted gently.

“You’re Jennie’s partner, and that makes you family. This pendant belongs to you now.”

She pressed it into Lisa’s hand, her fingers closing over Lisa’s as she smiled lovingly.

“Take care of Jennie, okay? That’s all I ask.”

Tears welled up in Lisa’s eyes, and she nodded, too choked up to speak for a moment.

“I will, I promise,”

She finally managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mrs. Kim gave her a tender look, then patted her cheek affectionately.

“Now, finish up here and come join us for breakfast. Jennie’s been up since dawn making something special just for you.”

Lisa's eyes lit up and Mrs Kim laughed.

A short while later, Lisa, now dressed and composed, joined Mrs. Kim downstairs. The smell of freshly made pancakes and other dishes wafted through the air, and Jennie was busy at the stove, plating the food with care.

When Lisa entered the kitchen, Jennie looked up and flashed her a bright smile.

“There you are. I thought I’d have to drag you down here myself!”

Lisa grinned back, her eyes staring at Jennie lovingly.

“I wouldn’t miss your cooking for the world.”

"Bleh..." Ella imitates vomiting.

And everyone laughed.

As Lisa sat down, she caught Mrs Kim’s eye, and the two shared a knowing smile. Mr. Kim, already at the table, glanced between them, slightly confused but decided not to ask. Instead, he patted the seat next to him, inviting Lisa to sit down.

Lisa took her place, feeling more comfortable and accepted than she ever had before. As they all dug into breakfast, the warmth of family surrounded her, making her feel truly at home.

Mrs. Kim looked at Jennie, then at Lisa, her heart full. She could see how happy Jennie was, and knowing that Lisa would take care of her daughter filled her with peace.

Jennie and Lisa are preparing to leave. They stand by the doorway, their luggage ready, and Jennie's family is gathered to say their goodbyes.

Mrs. Kim pulled Lisa into a warm hug.

"It was so lovely having you here, Lisa. Come visit again soon, okay?"

Lisa smiles as she hugs Mrs Kim tightly.

"Thank you so much, mom! You’ve been so kind to me. I’ll definitely come back."

Jennie playfully crossed her arms and pretended to pout.

"Wow, Mom, I guess you’ve forgotten who your real daughter is, huh?"

Mrs Kim laughs as she lets go of Lisa.

"Oh, Jennie, don’t be silly! Come here, you’re not getting away without a hug."

Ella, Jennie's younger sister, runs up to Jennie before Mrs Kim can hug her.

Ella wrapped her arms around Jennie with a huge grin.

"Don’t leave me, unnie! Who’s going to annoy me now?"

Jennie chuckles as she hugs Ella back.

"Don’t worry, I’ll call you every day to make sure you’re still annoyed."
