CHAPTER 29

“Okay, Jeongyeon, you’ve got this. It’s just Nayeon. The same Nayeon who drives you insane. No big deal... You can totally handle this.”

Jeongyeon mumbled.

Nayeon walks in, fashionably late, as always. Jeongyeon rushes to open the door, trying to look cool, but trips a little. She recovers quickly.

"Look at you, all gentlemanly. I’m impressed. Are you trying to court me or something?"

Nayeon said smirking.

Jeongyeon avoids eye contact.
 
"Shut up, Bunny."

Jeongyeon Shoves the bouquet awkwardly into Nayeon’s hands.

"Here. Take it."

Nayeon laughed.

"Aww, Jeongyeon, are you blushing? It’s cute seeing you all shy like this."

"Don’t push it. You know you have this... this effect on me."

Jeongyeon grumble.

"Oh, I know. You can't resist me, can you?"

Nayeon flirted,

"Please stop talking."

Jeongyeon mumbled

They head to their table, already bickering.

Nayeon said with a playful smirk.

"So, are you gonna feed me or just stare at the menu like you're solving a math problem?"

Jeongyeon asked.

"Why do you talk like that? Can’t we just have one normal conversation?"

Nayeon leaned forward, smirking even more.

"I don’t know, Jeongyeon, can you handle a normal conversation with someone who drives you wild?"

Jeongyeon looked everywhere but at Nayeon,

"God, I told you to shut up!"

Nayeon suddenly turns serious, catching Jeongyeon off guard.

Nayeon informed,

"You know? I actually started liking you."

Jeongyeon blinked, as she panicked

"Wait—what?"

Nayeon grinned,

"I like you, Jeongyeon."

Jeongyeon blushed furiously,

"I... uh... I like you too. But don’t make it weird."

Nayeon giggled,

"Too late. And look at you, all shy and stuff. How cute."

Jeongyeon groaned,

"I’m never going to hear the end of this, am I?"

Nayeon playfully dramatic

"Nope. And since you’re so smitten, you’re gonna have to court me now. Take me out on fancy dates, impress me with flowers—"

Jeongyeon sighed in defeat,

"Fine, fine. I’ll court you. Happy?"

Nayeon winked,

"Very."

"You know liking you was out of control I don't how it happened"

Nayeon added.

"Me too, I never imagined us together but here we are."

Jeongyeon replied and they both smiled at each other genuinely.

After their dinner, Jeongyeon drives Nayeon home. As they pull up in front of Nayeon's house, the atmosphere becomes a little awkward.

Nayeon said playing with her hair, suddenly shy

"Hey... um... You looked nice tonight, Jeongyeon."

Jeongyeon smirked, finally feeling more confident.

"Oh, really? Thanks."

Before Nayeon can say anything else, Jeongyeon leans in, quickly stealing a kiss on Nayeon’s lips.

Nayeon wide-eyed, stunned

"Wait, you—"

Jeongyeon laughed as she sprinted back to the car
 
"Goodnight! See you later!"  She slams the car door and speeds off.

Nayeon touched her lips, blushing hard

"This idiot..." Smiling softly.

Lisa is relaxing at home, scrolling through her phone when she suddenly gets a call from Ji-Eun.

Lisa picked up the call

"Hey, Ji-Eun, what's up?"

Ji-Eun sounds amused.

"Your dad has been pestering me non-stop, Lisa. He wants to make some partnership with our company and keeps insisting on meeting the owner."

Lisa sighed, rubbing her temple

"Of course he is. He is insecure about his ranking this year, I am sure you made it to the top this time. Just decline the offer. Sorry, you have to deal with him."

Ji-Eun chuckled,

"WE made it, And no worries, I just wanted to give you a heads-up. You know how stubborn he can be."

Lisa grumbled,

"Trust me, I know."

Ji-Eun teased,

"By the way, I heard a little rumour... You and some Jennie, huh? Care to spill?"

Lisa smiled, a little shyly,

"Yeah, we’re together now. It’s been... interesting."

Ji-Eun joked, with a playful tone,

"Interesting, huh? I’m starting to get jealous. Maybe I should confess my love for you, Lisa."

Lisa laughed,

"Oh, please. You’re too late, Ji-Eun. I’m all Jennie’s now. And seriously Thanks for hardworking."

Ji-Eun assured,

"Of course. You just focus on your relationship. And don’t worry, your secret's safe with me."

Lisa was relieved,

"Good. Jennie has no idea I’m the sole shareholder of the company, and I kinda want to keep it that way for now."

Ji-Eun laughed,

"Oh man, she’s going to flip when she finds out. But I won’t spoil the surprise."

Lisa chuckled,

"Thanks. I’ll let her know when the time’s right. For now, I’m just enjoying us... without the business stuff."

Ji-Eun teased,

"Yeah, yeah, enjoy your fairy tale romance. But don’t forget to handle your empire."

Lisa saluted,

"Got it, boss. Talk soon."

Ji-Eun greeted,

"Take care, lover girl."

They both laugh and hang up.

Lisa sighs, putting her phone down, thinking about how she’ll eventually have to tell Jennie about her business life. But for now, she’s happy keeping things simple and letting their relationship grow naturally.
