Once our helicopter landed, it was dark.
We were near a large building in the middle of no where, surrounded by desert.
"Run!" One of the men in suits said, as he opened the helicopter doors.
We all ran out of the helicopter through the thick sandy ground, guarded by the men surrounding us.
People started crawling over the sand dunes.
They let out terrifying gargles and screams, as they grew closer with their choppy movements.
The guards began shooting at them.
In the dim light we had, as we grew closer and closer to the building, I could see they were covered in dark blue veins.
Their skin had an odd color too it, as black ooze spilled from their mouths.
"Go! They're getting closer!" One of the men yelled.
I ran as fast as I could.
I didn't look back.
As we all made it inside, the large door closed behind us.
The building was bright, well lit, and clean.
A man stood there with a clip board, as he took a step closer to us.
God, he looked like a rat.
"Welcome," he greeted us with an eerie smile, "I bet you're all wondering where you are and what happened. That will all be explained over the course of the next few hours and days. But, for now let's get you all checked out... and we've got to do something about that smell. You all stink."
I looked back at all the gladers the surrounded me.
There were less than twenty of us.
I watched as Newt pushed his way up through them to stand next to me.
Newt looked at the man, then at me, as he grabbed my hand and held it tightly.
"Come on," the man motioned us to follow him, "my name is Janson by the way."
We all looked around at each other, undecided on if we should follow him or not.
We all decided that we really had no other option but to follow him.
He led us through the long hallways, until we got to a door that said 'showers'.
"Go in there, get cleaned up. There is new clothes and everything you'll need in there. After, we will get you all checked out." Janson spoke again.
The boys began filing in.
Newt still held my hand tightly, as I began to follow him.
"Not so fast." Janson said, grabbing my shoulder.
"Don't touch me." I roughly brushed his hand off of me.
"You and her, girls shower is down the hall." Janson spoke again, as he motioned to Teresa and I.
"Why can't I go with them? I've been with these boys for the last three years, where did you think I showered then?" I argued back.
"It will be okay, just go. I'll see you after, alright?" Newt intervened, giving me a soft hug as he looked me in the eyes.
I huffed at Janson, before I followed Teresa down the hall into the girl's showers.
Teresa and I both stepped into separate stalls.
I turned on the water to warm up as I got undressed.
They already had clean clothes folded and set up for us, along with soap, shampoo, conditioner and anything and everything you could think of.
As I stepped into the shower, I looked down.
I watched as all the dirt, filth, sweat, and blood rinsed off of my body and went down the drain.
I knew that was Chuck and Gally's blood.
I stood there for a moment, letting the water run over my body.
It took everything in me to not start crying again.
I just wanted to sit with Newt.
I just wanted him to wrap his arms around me.
I took in long deep breaths, as I tried to push the images of lifeless Gally and Chuck out of my head.
My brain sort of went on autopilot for a while after that, as I washed myself in the shower and got dressed.
I snapped back to reality when I saw my reflection in the mirror.
I honestly haven't seen myself since before the maze, but I don't remember that.
I only ever caught glimpses in shiny metal or my reflection in water.
This was my first time standing in front of a mirror that I could remember.
"Woah..." I managed to say, as I touched the mirror in front of me.
"What?" Teresa asked me, as she stood at my side at the sink.
"That's me? That's what I look like?" I asked her.
"Yeah, thats you." She sort of chuckled, as she handed me a small bag.
It had deodorant, toothbrush, tooth paste, a hair brush, and tweezers in it.
I brushed through my long auburn hair.
I then brushed my teeth and put the deodorant on.
God, I smelt so good.
I felt so clean.
"Now, to do something about these eyebrows." I said, as I began to shape them and clean them up with the tweezers.
After a few minutes, two women wearing long white coats and light blue clothes peaked their heads in.
"You girls ready?" One of them asked.
"Yes." Teresa said, before I could even open my mouth.
The two of us were escorted by the two women through the building to another large room.
The room had different sections, with curtains separating them.
I could see Newt sitting down on some sort of hospital looking chair as someone gave him a shot.
They had Minho hooked up to lots of wires as he ran on a treadmill.
Everyone of us Gladers were there being looked at.
"Alright, have a seat." The woman lead me to my own separate section, as she pointed to the chair.
