a devils pact (yan. Oikawa x f.reader)

"how are you?" Mika asks and comes a step closer, standing right at the left corner of your desk.

you hesitate for a moment, you don't know why, before you tell her you're doing fine and how she is.

"I'm all good, thanks for asking" she say's and the smile on her face returns a little wider than before.

then, she tilts her head to the side and the smile lessens.

"can I ask you something?" her eyes seem a little more serious than before and there is a hint of uncertainty dancing around her eyes.

but you know that it's staged.

you know that she came to you with the intention to ask you what she's going to ask.

you shrug before telling her "sure."

"I know we aren't really close.." she says and you have to bite back the words 'we aren't close at all' as she pauses.

"..and I don't know if I'm in the position to ask that, but..." 'you're not' you think and you know exactly what she's going to ask.

"..are you dating Oikawa?" she finally asks.

here it is.

you knew it.

you knew she was going to ask that and yet you're unprepared for it.

it's only been a few days since you made that pact with Oikawa, you guys wanted to take it slow by acting to get closer and closer slowly.

sure, it was only a matter of time before the first person would ask that, but that it only took three days is insane to you and way too early for your liking.

you widen your eyes before looking away, acting like her question comes out of the blue.

shit, you didn't discuss this with Oikawa yet.

"Oh..uhm.." you stutter, not sure what to tell her.

if you tell her you guy's aren't dating it's probably going to be suspicious if you 'date' in a month or two.

if you tell her yes, it might seems suspicious how you and Oikawa went from not knowing each other at all to dating in a few days.

"how..why do you think so?" you ask, completely overwhelmed.

"you guys just seem to become closer and closer everyday you know? a lot of people are actually suspicious of you two dating.." she confesses and this time it sounds honest.

you swallow hard, hoping you're not messing anything up before you answer her.

"well yeah, Oikawa and I have become good friends..but..uhm..I don't know..." you stammer.

"Oh it's fine don't worry about it" Mika say's with a smile and you're genuinely surprised that she accepts your stammering as an answer.

she scurries back to her desk when the teacher enters only a moment later and you're glad she can't squeeze you out about it.

you sure you would've messed everything up if she did.

in the cover of your desk you pull your phone out from the pocket of your uniform's jacket and send an SMS to Oikawa

'I was just asked if we were dating' you type and send.

you're still thinking about what to tell him next when he already answers.

'what did you say??' his text reads and you're surprised he answered so quickly.

you had expected a reply well after school since he doesn't seem like the type of guy to take his phone out every chance he gets.

'i told he that we had gotten good friends' you respond and his answer arrives only a few seconds later.

'nothing else?' - 'no' you message back immediately.

you lift your gaze for a moment to check if your teacher got suspicious but he's focused on writing something on the board.

when you look down again Oikawa has answered.

'good, great job. we're going to talk about this later' he texted and you quietly sigh in relief.

you were so worried about having messed up and it feels freeing to not have.

you put your phone away without answering and pay the best of attention to the lesson you can right now.

"what's wrong?"

"she said we were just good friends after someone asked her if we were dating.."

Iwaizumi furrows his brows in confusion.

he had noticed his best friends bad mood since the end of lunch but didn't dare to ask him yet.

but now they're alone, in the gym getting everything ready.

it will still take a few minutes for the others to arrive so now there is time to ask, to talk about what's bothering him.

"isn't that a good thing? I mean, it for sure would be suspicious if you guys suddenly dated out of nowhere.." Iwaizumi argues and his friend groans.

"yes it is a good thing" Oikawa says but he seems a little frustrated than before "and I told her she did a good job by saying we were just friends but..but..ugh, I don't know!" he exclaims and now it's Iwaizumi sighing in frustration.

"you act irrational. what she said was the best she could've done, there is nothing to argue about so you got no reason to be frustrated with her."

"no, Iwa-chan, I'm not frustrated with her..I'm just..frustrated in general." the setter says and s moment of silence follows.

"a part of me just wishes she would've said yes to it, that we could get closer.." he sighs in frustration.

"so you'd rather risk it all because you can't just tell her that you want to actually be her friend instead of playing that stupid pact you made with her safe?" Iwaizumi asks in confusion but his friend only shrugs.

"I don't know..I already gave her so many hints.." he say's, putting his face into his hands.

" 'hints'? what kind of hints?" the wing spiker asks, now even more confused.

he didn't notice any 'hints'.

"I told her she was really likeable, I waited for her at the bottom of the stairs, I play fought with her under the table! I text her every day, I..ugh, she barely answers my texts!" the last part leaves the captains lips with so much frustration that it's almost a yell.

"but her stupid friend just gets in the way with everything! how is the pact going to work if that girl is glued to her every free minute she got!?" the frustration is even more evident now and Iwaizumi is a little taken aback by it.

he barely sees his best friend like that and never before because of a girl.

"you mean Yumi?" he asks and Oikawa nods, rubbing his temples with this thumb and index finger.

"well, you can't expect (Y/N) to give you all of her time and attention, she got a personal life as well.." he reasons but that only seems to worsen the situation.

"why not? why won't she just shoo that friend of hers away so this entire thing becomes easier?! god, I hate that Yumi girl.." he says and there is so much spite in his voice that Iwaizumi has to physically take a step back.

he has seen Oikawa in so many different situations, he even kept him from hitting Kageyama which was one of the lowest points he had ever seen him, but this anger and frustration is something entirely else.

it's foreign for him to see on his friend and scary.
