"I didn't want you to see me like this."
"Don't you dare apologize,"
Jennie said firmly, her eyes filled with unshed tears.
"You stood up for us. For me. That's all that matters. I'm proud of you, Lisa. And I love you."
Lisa smiled weakly, tears finally spilling down her cheeks as Jennie gently wiped them away.
"I love you too,"
Lisa whispered.
"More than anything."
Jennie kissed Lisa's forehead softly.
"Rest now. I'll take care of you."
Jennie carefully caressed her face, brushing aside the loose strands of hair. Jennie's eyes were still red from crying, but her anger toward Mr. Manoban lingered beneath her calm exterior.
"I'm going to kill your father,"
Jennie mumbled.
Lisa chuckled softly, wincing slightly from the pain.
"Aww, babe, you'd look cute in prison. But it's fine. It's just another Manoban family moment,"
She said, laughing at her own joke.
Jennie huffed, clearly irritated by how Lisa brushed off the seriousness.
"How can you laugh about this? You're bandaged like a mummy."
Lisa gave a playful pout, which caught Jennie off guard.
"I was just joking."
Lisa whispered, her voice soft. She shifted slightly, trying to get comfortable.
"Just... stay with me, okay?"
Jennie's eyes softened as she hugged Lisa tightly.
"Of course, I'm here. I just wish I could've protected you this time."
Lisa raised her hand weakly and cupped Jennie's cheek.
"You're here now, that's all I need."
Suddenly, Lisa's expression shifted, and she said,
"Jennie, I've been thinking... maybe we should break up."
Jennie's eyes widened in disbelief, and her hand flew up, ready to slap Lisa. But Lisa, even in her weakened state, caught her wrist mid-air.
"Wait, wait! Not for real! For the media, because you're a celebrity and everyone knows you're dating me, So I want to assure my father that we broke up for real. I have a plan and I know you trust me."
Lisa explained quickly, flashing a cheeky grin.
Jennie glared at her, lowering her hand.
"I almost slapped you, Lisa."
"Yeah, I know... You're scary when you glare like that. Honestly, I nearly peed my pants when you did,"
Lisa admitted with a laugh.
Jennie's irritation melted away, and she hugged Lisa even tighter.
"Don't joke about things like that."
Lisa squirmed slightly.
"I'm not joking this time! I really need to go bathroom."
Jennie quickly released her, watching as Lisa struggled to get up, limping toward the bathroom.
A few minutes later, Lisa called out,
"Uh, babe? Can you help me?"
Jennie raised an eyebrow.
