Louis and Harry spent New Year's together at a party with Harry's friends, and for the first time in his life, Louis got to kiss someone at midnight.
He knew it was silly, but in that exact moment Louis felt like nothing could go wrong, and like 2024 was going to be the best year of his life.
He knew he had no way of knowing that, but he had a feeling, so he decided to follow his gut for once.
"Do you have plans next week?" Harry asked Louis on a Sunday in the middle of January.
It was freezing outside, so they had stayed in Harry's flat all day watching movies.
"Other than working, no" Louis explained "I do have to renew my passport, I checked it the other day and it expired in December".
"Where are you going?" Harry questioned.
"To the U.S in the summer" Louis replied "I told you I was going to my friend's wedding in Maine".
"Right" Harry nodded "Are you still planning to make it a vacation, or are you just going to the wedding?".
"Vacation, definitely" Louis declared.
"I was thinking... what's the name of your friend? The one that's getting married?" asked Harry.
"Hannah" Louis replied.
"Do you think Hannah would allow you to bring a plus one to the wedding?" Harry questioned.
"You wanna come to the U.S with me?" Louis asked feeling surprised.
"You don't want to bring me along?" Harry pouted.
"I do, I just..." Louis said and decided to be honest "This trip would be at the end of July, that's over 6 months from now, do you have that much faith in us?".
"Yes, you don't?".
"Of course I do, but how can we be sure we'll still be together in July?" Louis questioned.
"Because there's no reason why we wouldn't be" Harry shrugged "We're doing pretty well, babe".
Louis smiled at Harry, and kissed him.
"I love you" Louis told him.
"I love you too" Harry smiled.
"I'll ask Hannah if I can bring a plus one" Louis decided "I'm pretty sure she'll say yes"."Then I'll have to renew my passport as well" Harry declared.
"Okay" Louis smiled "We'll do it together".
It turned out Hannah was very happy about Louis bringing Harry to the wedding, and when Louis told Harry that, they started talking about how long they should travel and where they should go, and it made a Louis feel very excited about it.
Harry's birthday came on February 1st, and they went out to have dinner with his friends, which somehow ended up with a few of them at a club, where they partied until it closed, and only then they went home, and woke up the next morning with a hangover from hell, but it was still very fun.
"Harry?" Louis asked Harry one night as they laid in Louis' bed together.
"Mmm?" Harry hummed as he texted.
"Who are you texting?" Louis questioned.
"Just Pete" Harry replied without looking up.
Pete was one of Harry's friends who was also his business partner. The first time Louis met him he thought he was nice, but now that he had been around him a few more times, he wasn't sure about him anymore, for two main reasons. The first was that he thought that Pete was too controlling over Harry, and the second was because he was pretty sure Pete didn't like him. The truth was that Pete had never said anything mean to him or anything like that, it was just a feeling he had, and his gut rarely was wrong.
