In was on a Saturday afternoon when Louis finally decided he was willing to talk to Harry.
He had no idea how that conversation would go, but he wanted it to happen, he couldn't wait any longer, at almost 34 weeks pregnant, he needed to know where Harry and him stood before their daughter arrived into the world.
"We can talk" Louis said to Harry that evening when Harry returned with Maeve.
"Really?" Harry asked, his eyes big.
"Yes" Louis confirmed "Come back at 8:30, when Maeve's already asleep".
"I can help you put her to bed" Harry offered.
"That's not necessary" Louis denied "Just come back later".
"Ok" Harry nodded "I'll be back, then".
Harry said goodbye to Maeve, and once they were alone, Louis calmly made dinner for him and his daughter, then he did her bedtime ritual, which included a bath, and when she finally fell asleep, it was around 8:10 PM.
Then, while Louis waited for Harry to come back, he gave himself a pep talk, he told himself he needed to be brave and tough, and that he needed to approach this conversation calmly.
When Harry finally arrived, Louis asked him to go to the living room with him, and he told him to sit, which he did, on the couch, and Louis sat there too.
"Tell me whatever it is you've been wanting to say" Louis said cutting to the chase, he didn't want to make small talk, he just wanted to know what Harry had to say.
"Lou, you... you're on of the most important people in my life, you're my daughters' mother, and I don't eve want to hurt you, or the co parent relationship we've built, it's too important" Harry explained.
"What?" Louis asked confused.
"I want things to go back to how they were before you met Martin, when you started dating him things started to get awkward between us, and I don't want that for us" Harry explained "I want us to be friends and coparents, the way we used to be".
"I'm sorry, but that's what you wanted to talk about? About us going back to being friends?" Louis asked in disbelief.
"Is not that what you wanted to hear?" Harry frowned.
"No!" Louis denied, feeling exasperated "That's not what I wanted to hear!".
"But...".
"You say you don't want to hurt me, but you keep doing it!" Louis exclaimed "A month ago you said breaking up with me was the biggest mistake of your life, and now you're saying you just want to be friends? Is this a joke to you?".
"I thought that's what you wanted me to say" Harry insisted.
"It's not!" Louis said again, and he could feel the anger taking over "I wanted you to say you love me, that you've always loved me, that you want us to be together because I'm the love of your life, and that there's nothing you won't do for me because I'm the only one for you!".
"You really want me to say that? Because I'll say it, I'll say it all, Lou" Harry said determined.
"But you don't want to say it" Louis said as his eyes filled with tears.
"I do, of course I do" Harry insisted "I just didn't say it because I thought you didn't want to hear it, but Lou... I love you, I'm completely in love with you, I love you more than I've ever loved anyone in my entire life, and I was a complete fool for walking out of your life, I was stupid and immature, and I don't deserve a second chance... but if you're willing to give it to me, I promise I will do everything in my power to make it up to you, I won't ever hurt you again, I know better now".
