Chapter 29: The Eldest Miss' Routine
Mu Xiaoxiao had no idea that while the eldest miss' was in front of her, Win Yi heart and mind were entirely consumed by thoughts of her.
Still caught up in the playful act, "Come here, woman~"
Normally, perhaps due to stress or the expectations placed upon her by her role as a psychologist, Mu Xiaoxiao appeared more mature and composed than someone her age. But now, as she lounged lazily on the sofa, twirling a lock of hair around her slender finger with an alluring gaze and seductive lips, it was fortunate that her only audience was her sister, Qiuqiu, who she has cared for since childhood. If it were someone else, they would have lost control instantly.
Qin Yi continued to stare at Mu Xiaoxiao, caught between brief moments of emotional turmoil and indulgence.
If Mu Xiaoxiao were a piece of jade, Qin Yi's gaze would have carved her into countless of shapes, unable to let go.
Noticing the eldest miss' intense stare, Mu Xiaoxiao turned her head and teased, "Eldest Miss, am I beautiful?"
Her teasing was always even-handed—she treated both her sister and the eldest miss, whom she mentally regarded as an older sister.
The eldest miss' reaction was immediate: she looked away, her face burning hot.
Qin Yi was someone known for her calm and self-restraint. Not even Qin Shuang, who had tried every trick to get a word out of her—had succeeded. But when it came to Mu Xiaoxiao, Qin Yi felt like "going out of control".
It was a dangerous sensation, like she had woven a pink trap filled with sourness, sweetness, bitterness, and temptation. And though she knew it was a trap, she would willingly leap into it.
Perhaps from a worldly perspective, she and Mu Xiaoxiao were not equals. She had been born into a life of luxury. Even though she had been deceived many times, her life remained lavish, without the need to struggle for survival.
In contrast, Mu Xiaoxiao had been abandoned at birth, growing up in an orphanage and enduring hardships. She had seen the worst of the world and carried burdens far beyond her years. Though still young, she had borne too much responsibility too soon.
They were not equals. But life often has a way of playing cruel jokes.
Though Qin Yi doesn't have many close friends, she had long since become disillusioned with love in the entertainment industry, having seen its highs and lows—how it could bring joy and despair.
She knew well: in love, the one who falls first is the one who loses everything. And in this game, Mu Xiaoxiao had already won.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!"
Qiuqiu didn't hold back at all, pouncing on Mu Xiaoxiao like a hungry tiger. The force was immense. Mu Xiaoxiao smiled as she reached out to wrap her arms around her younger sister's waist to keep her from falling.
Qiuqiu curled up in her embrace, laughing so brightly and radiantly that it was like the sun breaking through, even the eldest miss didn't want to look, but her gaze lingered involuntarily.
Is it true that once your heart is moved, everything changes?
Qin Yi still remembered her first impression of Mu Xiaoxiao. At that time, she had stood at the doorway, staring blankly at her like a fool, her eyes filled with curiosity and scrutiny.
Though Mu Xiaoxiao was beautiful, how could she possibly catch Qin Yi's eye? Qin Yi was the pinnacle of the entertainment industry, the sole heir of Nanyang in her time. Those trying to get close to her were either glamorous or elegantly refined—there were far too many of them. She had long grown indifferent to appearances.
