The screams echoed endlessly in his mind—shouts of pain, regret, anger, and fear merging into a chaotic cacophony. Leonardo ran through the suffocating darkness of the corridor, his breaths ragged and his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t recall when he had started running or even why. All he knew was that he couldn’t stop. The voices surrounded him, growing louder with every step, drowning out the sound of his own frantic footfalls. They were familiar—hauntingly so—but in his disoriented state, he couldn’t match them to faces. There were six of them, distinct yet all-consuming, piercing through the oppressive void.
Suddenly, the hallway changed. The suffocating blackness gave way to mirrored walls on either side of him. His reflection appeared, running alongside him, its movements a perfect mimic of his own. But something was wrong. His blue mask was gone, replaced with a dark, ominous black one. He glanced at the mirrors, the reflections shifting erratically. A flower-like symbol flashed intermittently across their surfaces, stark and unrelenting. The sight caused unease to coil in his gut, but he kept running, his feet slamming against the ground with desperation.
A seventh voice joined the others—a gut-wrenching wail of anguish that reverberated through his entire being. It was different, piercing through the chaos in his head with horrifying clarity. The sound shook him to his core, and the pieces fell into place. The mask. The Lotus symbols. The voice. He knew who it belonged to.
The cry came again, louder this time, cutting through the air like a blade. It wasn’t in his head anymore; it was real, reverberating down the endless corridor. He pushed himself harder, every muscle in his body burning as he raced toward the source of the sound.
In an instant, everything changed again. The corridor dissolved, and he found himself in a pitch-black room. His pounding feet slowed, and he began to walk cautiously forward, the oppressive silence suffocating. Then, out of the void, came the faint sound of sobbing.
His heart clenched painfully as his eyes locked onto the source of the sound.
There you were, crumpled on the cold, unyielding floor. Your body was limp, trembling as soft, broken sobs escaped your lips. Your hands were bound tightly behind your back, and your body was a battered mess of dirt, sweat, and blood. Your torn clothes hung from you in shreds, your mask discarded on the floor just inches away. Beside it, your weapon lay shattered, shards glinting cruelly in the faint light. Tears streamed down your dirt-streaked face, your bloodshot eyes filled with despair.
Leo didn’t hesitate. He bolted toward you, collapsing to his knees as he reached your side. His trembling hands carefully pulled your battered form into his arms, his chest heaving as he fought back his own tears. Your skin was ice-cold to the touch, and your shallow, labored breaths were growing weaker with every passing second.
“No, no, no, no,” he pleaded, his voice breaking. “(Y/N), stay with me. Please stay with me!”
But his desperate cries couldn’t reach you. Your eyes fluttered closed, and with one final, shuddering breath, your body went completely still in his arms.
“No!” Leo’s voice cracked as grief consumed him. Tears poured freely down his face as he clung to you, his mind reeling, his heart shattering.
Before he could process the weight of the loss, a heavy presence loomed behind him. It filled the room like a dark, suffocating shadow, making the air grow heavy. Then, without warning, a powerful force struck him from behind. A flash of silver gleamed in his periphery, and a sharp, searing pain tore through him as a massive blade slashed into his body.
The pain was intense but brief. Darkness overtook him in a heartbeat, the world fading into a silent, all-encompassing void.
Leonardo jolted awake, his body trembling and drenched in sweat. His chest heaved as if his heart was trying to pound its way out of his shell. Disoriented and shaken, he blinked into the darkness of his room, his gaze darting around to ground himself. The blanket that had been tucked snugly around him earlier was now kicked to the end of the bed in a tangled heap. Instinctively, he reached over for his T-Phone, the glow of the screen momentarily blinding him in the pitch black. The time read 1:12 AM.
