Kai laughed, crossing his arms. "One time too many in my opinion. It's a quesadilla, not macarons."

Walking around, you pressed your hand into his face, causing an handprint of white across his features. "Go kick his ass Nya, please."

He smacked your forehead with the back of his palm, huffing. "Come on, Egalt's going to get upset if we take too long. He's going to have Arin and Lloyd fight after anyways. You're too 'prepared already' or something, Y/n."

With a bark of laughter, Nya glanced over the mess, looking up at you. "You got all this? I'll be busy wiping the floor with Kai, so he probably won't be able to cook." She gave you a cheeky wink.

"Yeah, I'll figure something out." You smirked, waving them off. "Get out there, I don't want Egalt in a bad mood. Or.. I guess a worse mood. He's always in a bad mood."

The two siblings ran out, leaving you alone.

Shit. Were you out of teriyaki?

The sun had set awhile ago, the hodgepodge of stirfry and hibachi noodles smelled great for what you had on board. Walking out into the hall, you looked out a porthole, noting that you couldn't see anyone. Huh.

Moving your hand to your ear, you went to go call on the comms that food was ready when someone pushed past you, running down the hall with a flash of orange. You heard crying. ...What the hell happened? A door slammed.

Lloyd ran down the steps after him, gently maneuvering around you, eyes full of fear. He didn't stop, continuing to run after him. "Arin! Just talk to us!" He shouted, turning around a corner.

Watching Sora hurry down after, she paused, noting your confusion. "I- Lloyd and Arin were fighting.. he lost control and threw a stone into Egalt's face... He didn't mean to though- He can't see out of his eye anymore- he got ranked down to a First Fang. He.. shit..." She raked a hand down her face, panicking.

Grabbing her arms, you took a breath, motioning for her to do the same. "It's okay. A lot is happening. Sometimes we just need to give people space. Remember the breathing I taught you? The box breathing? One, two, three four, in, two three four, out, two, three, four."

"Right- right- fuck." She rubbed the shape of a box into her leg, shutting her eyes for a brief moment.

Turning back as round, you started walking to where Lloyd was still begging Arin to come out of the supply closet.

He paced back and forth, his fists tight. "Arin! You're doing fine, we all just need to calm down an-" He shouted, grabbing at his hair.

Lloyd froze, his eyes glazing over. Fuck fuck fuck fuck double- quadruple FUCK!

Running over to him, you caught him before he fell, leaning him against the wall as his eyes began to glow bright. Not now.. shit.

Arin opened the door, probably hearing Lloyd shout, he stared down, looking terrified out of his mind.

Panic panic panic. That was all that was happening! Couldn't everything just calm down for just a moment?!

Wiping tears of frustration away, you whipped your head around to the kids. "Arin, Sora, go get Nya, Kai, and WyldFyre, everyone should eat dinner." You practically shouted, your tone betraying your efforts to remain calm. "I'll bring Lloyd back to our room so he doesn't hurt anyone when he wakes up."

They stared back at you, eyes wide.

"Just go!" You shouted, craning your head back as you went to go heave Lloyd up. His armor was too heavy to get him to bed quick.

They nodded, rushing back to the kitchen.

Pulling Lloyd along the halls, you opened the door to your room, his heels dragging over the threshold.

With a grunt, you pulled him over into the bed, rolling him onto his back.

You made sure the pillow was fluffed behind his head.

Sliding the chair beside the bed, you sat down.

And.. stared. Did you really want to experience his vision too?

You needed to remain calm. You had to. You couldn't both be freaking out. Everyone depended on you.

You had to stay calm.

Calm.

For such a short word, it felt like such a big thing to accomplish.

Placing your head into your hands, you gripped the roots of your hair, trying to keep calm. Calm calm calm. That's all it felt like you were doing. Patience, calm, stay calm, someone had to be calm.

Finally, your chest shook as a sob forced its way out, you trembled, the tears finally breaking through.

You whined, eyes squeezed shut.

"..I don't know what to do..."
