Shutting your eyes, you listened to the screams around you, muscles relaxing. He'd grab you. Maybe it was how long you'd have to deal with him, or how much you had seen him grow after the Merge, but you trusted him.
The air was forced from your lungs once more as you fell into a tough, black rubber hand. Taking a shaking breath, you glanced over, smiling to Kai.
WyldFyre's cheers filled your ears, and Sora focused on sitting you upright. Everyone was okay. You weren't dead yet.
Kai continued to climb, giving everyone a moment to ground themselves. Not.. literally, but whatever.
You pressed the comm in your ear, only to be met by a loud, static feedback. "Shit.." you muttered, garnering everyone's attention. "Comms are down."
"The Plume had a thruway chamber on it. Its not surprising the comms are down." Sora explained, testing her own earbud. "No communications until we get back to the Monastery."
You totally knew what she was talking about. Yup.
Kai paused his, leaning out of his seat. "Everyone's alright.. right?" I asked, eyes flickering over all of you. Seemingly satisfied with what he saw, he sat back down, beginning to climb once more.
You felt your chest tighten as his mech slipped for a moment, causing you to slide forwards. "Maybe try being more careful?!"
Staring down, WyldFyre's eyes widened, before she curled back into the mech 's palm, wrapping her arms around it's thumb.
Pursing your lips, you reached over, rubbing her back.
She whipped her head back to face you, scowling. "I am not afraid of anyone or anyting- especially not heights!"
"Okay." You sighed, nodding. "Just wanted to make sure you were okay. That crash wasn't fun."
As Kai grappled to the top of the canyon, you froze, listening. The rocks were unstable. But you were so close. You didn't have time to waste.
Reaching your hands up, you pushed the rocks together, trying to keep them from crumbling as Kai continued up. "Faster!" You grunted.
A large rock fell down. It was going right for Sora's head. You couldn't do anything without the entire mech falling too.
Your shoulder got hot, a fireball being thrown next to you, smashing into the rock.
Sora panted, glancing over to WyldFyre. "Thanks." She only breathed out, hand rubbing at her throat.
The mech pulled itself onto flat ground, letting you all climb off.
WyldFyre dove off, pressing her face to the floor. "Ground! Oh I love you ground!"
"It wasn't that bad!" Kai argued.
Shrugging, Sora glanced to you. You weren't exactly sure what was going on either.
Frowning, you felt an itch at the back of your head. Arin? You had a feeling about Arin. Huh. And.. a dog?
"Hey guys! I found a bunch of skeletons! It's so cool!" WyldFyre shouted, bouncing around. "Hah! Serves them right! They're some of those stupid Wolf Masks!"
You opened your mouth to respond when Kai shushed you, ducking down, pointing to the distance. Wolf Mask Warriors. They were walking over a mountain.
Glancing back over to WyldFyre, you hummed.
Gosh, this was going to sound like an outdated plan. "What if we did a little dress up?" You hummed.
Everyone else followed your line of sight. Didn't seem like they were totally against the plan.
"MY LEG IS BETTER!" WyldFyre shouted, getting cut off by Kai putting a hand over her mouth. "It doesn't hurt as much!"
Sighing, Kai glared at her. "Quiet down. And don't overwork your limits, remember? And- stop licking my hand! Ew!" He huffed, wiping his hand on the ground. "Seems like we have a plan at least. Or.. the makings of one."
▬▭▬▭▬▭▬▭▬▭▬▭
Okay. This plan was shit.
Well, it was a good plan, you were actually at this weird temple thing with the Gong of Shattering in front. And, you hadn't been caught yet.
The shit part was the fact the clothes you took from corpses smelled like corpses. Crazy, right?
Standing in formation with the other warriors, you couldn't help the small shutter when Ras began to shout over everyone. "Position the captives!"
Oh, also his purple stripes were red now. You weren't sure if it meant anything, but it was a fact.
You stood on your toes, trying to see the captives- oh. Well shit.
Between Ras and Cinder, five people were tied together, kneeling on the ground. Citizens of Cloud Kingdom. Euphrasia and Suetonious at the front.
"I'm so gonna enjoy watching you all be sacrificed to release the Forbidden Five." Cinder laughed, slapping one of them on the cheek. Damnit, you really wanted to punch him. But at least he was really bad at keeping plans secret.
WyldFyre lunged forward, about to attack someone, just barely held back by Sora.
She was quickly interupted my screaming though. It was the red-haired person. You still weren't sure who they were.
"That's the girl from my school.. Jordan or something like that." Sora mumbled, her stance tense.
Oh right. Jordana. Wasn't she in Imperium? You didn't think she was an Elemental Master.
She ran up to Ras, spewing information in a hushed whisper.
After a moment, he growled, picking her up by the collar, throwing her to the ground. "YOU FOOL!"
You couldn't help but wince as she rolled across the stone pathway. She might've been evil and wanted a bunch of pain and suffering.. but she was still just a kid. She was Sora's age.
Ras leapt away, his hammer swinging through the trees. A rush of wind ghosted through the clearing.
"..What was that?" Sora muttered.
Breathing out, softly, Kai shook his head. "I dont know. But it's a distraction."
