At 9am, I stood in front of the address Felix had given me. The plan was to meet in front of the studio, but this idiot overslept and told me he would be late, and that I should just get ready without him. He was on his way, though, so it wasn't too bad.
I pushed the doors and entered the studio. The place was small, but cosy. There were two changing rooms, a vending machine, and some sort of kitchenette with a fridge. On the other side of the room was a door which I assumed led to the practice room. No one seemed to be here yet though, so I simply headed to the female changing room to put on more comfortable clothes.
I changed rapidly and entered the dance studio, headphones on, hoping to stretch and loosen up a bit before Felix and the others arrived. Today, I would finally meet the boys he had been talking about non-stop for the past few years.
As I entered the practice room, I noticed someone else was already there. A tall figure was stretching near the mirrors, headphones in. I recognized him from the dance videos Felix had sent me, and even remembered seeing his face on a few of his recent insta posts. Sharp jawline, dark hair, and muscular arms. What was his name again... Hangjin? Oh, Hyunjin! I think.
He didn't seem to notice me at first, too focused on his own routine, and I hesitated for a second, not expecting to see him here alone. Felix hadn't mentioned that someone would be here before the others, and I suddenly felt awkward, not sure how to introduce myself without Felix here with me.
But I figured it would be rude not to at least greet him.
- Hey, I said, stepping a little closer, hoping to catch his attention. I'm Y/n, Felix's friend. Nice to meet you!
I extended my hand for him to shake, putting on a smile.
The boy paused for a second, straightening up, but he didn't look at me immediately. His gaze stayed on the mirror for a while, as if contemplating whether or not to acknowledge me at all. When he finally did, his expression was blank, maybe even slightly cold. His dark eyes flickered to me briefly, looking me up and down, before returning to his reflection.
- Yeah, he muttered under his breath, completely ignoring my hand held out. Then, as if I wasn't even there, he plugged his airpods back in his ears, and went back to his stretches, completely uninterested.
I blinked, taken aback by his attitude.
What the fuck.
I stood there for a moment, paralyzed, and unsure of what to do. Should I say something else? Try to make conversation? The guy clearly wasn't in the mood to talk, from what I had seen. So instead, I decided to just focus on my own warm-up, moving to the complete opposite side of the room to give him some space.
I had just started stretching when the door creaked open, and I heard a familiar voice filtering into the room. Felix, along with the rest of the crew, seemed to have finally arrived.
I let out a sigh of relief.
- Y/n! Felix called out, rushing over with his usual bright smile. Sorry, I'm late. Slept through my alarm. But hey, you met Hyunjin already, right?
I glanced over at Hyunjin, who was still pretending like I didn't exist.
- Yeah... we met, I said, forcing a small smile, but Felix didn't seem to pick up on the awkwardness.
Before I could open my mouth to introduce myself, one of the boys, a guy with short, light brown hair, bounded up to me with a grin.
- Hey! I'm Changbin. It's cool you're joining us! He extended a hand, which I shook, feeling slightly relieved by his friendly tone.
