Nani woke up with a groan, his head throbbing like someone had played football with it all night. He forced himself upright, his body aching in protest.
The rich scent of coffee filled the air, luring him toward the living room. As he walked in, Dew glanced up from the couch, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Are you awake, sir?" Dew scoffed, sipping his coffee.
Nani let out another groan before collapsing onto the couch beside him, face buried in the cushions.
"Remember anything from last night?" Dew asked.
At that, Nani stiffened. The memories hit him like a slap—thick Alpha pheromones, unwelcome hands, the dizziness from too much alcohol. His stomach churned violently.
Without a word, he shot up and bolted for the bathroom. Moments later, the sound of retching filled the apartment.
Dew sighed, setting his coffee down before following him inside. He crouched beside Nani, rubbing slow, comforting circles on his back as he emptied his stomach.
When it was over, Nani slumped against the sink, wiping his mouth. Dew ruffled his hair.
"Get a bath—I'll scold you later. You don't have class today?"
"At eleven," Nani mumbled, voice hoarse.
Dew checked the clock and let out an exaggerated sigh. "Well, it's 10:40 now."
Nani groaned dramatically, rubbing his temples. "I'm never going to a party again."
"Good. Now go shower. I'll drive you."
Nani gave him a weak nod before dragging himself toward the bathroom.
True to his nature, Nani was ready in ten minutes, hair still damp as he dashed toward Dew's car. Dew was already waiting, arms crossed.
As they drove, Nani tore into the sandwich Dew had packed for him, chewing between groggy blinks.
"By the way," he mumbled through a mouthful of food, "was I able to call you? I don't remember."
"You didn't," Dew replied, eyes on the road. "No, I called you when I found the apartment empty. One of your seniors was waiting with you. You were drunk and drowned in Alpha pheromones."
"I know that part," Nani muttered, swallowing. "Which senior? Did you get his name? Bro literally saved me from getting raped for real."
Dew's hands tightened on the wheel. "I didn't."
Suddenly, the car jerked to a stop.
"What the hell? I'm gonna be late!" Nani complained, glaring at him.
Dew turned to face him, his usual teasing demeanor gone. "I'm angry." His voice was low, controlled—but beneath it, Nani could hear the restrained fury. "You don't know how angry I am."
Nani swallowed. "Dew—"
"What if that guy didn't help you?" Dew cut him off.
Nani averted his gaze. "I know."
"You know?" Dew scoffed. "Do you even understand—"
"I know," Nani repeated, softer this time. He exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "You know I've never been to things like this. I just... I wanted to see. I want to have a social life too, Dew. I know I messed up. I shouldn't have gone alone—I'm sorry."
For a moment, Dew said nothing. Then, he reached over and flicked Nani's forehead.
"Ow!" Nani whined, rubbing the spot.
Dew chuckled and started the car again.
As soon as they reached campus, Nani bolted out of the car. "Bye-bye, love you!" he yelled over his shoulder before sprinting toward his department.
Dew just sighed, shaking his head.
Nani was so focused on running that he miscalculated the stairs—his foot caught on the edge, and he went down with an embarrassing thud, landing hard on his knee.
Pain shot through his leg, and he winced, rubbing at the sore spot.
"Will I ever see you in a normal state?"
A voice. Low, amused.
Nani looked up—and his breath hitched.
Sky.
The president of the student council.
Nani scrambled to stand up, but his knee protested, and he promptly fell back onto his ass.
Sky sighed before reaching down and grabbing his arm, pulling him to his feet with ease.
"Did you get home safely last night?" Sky asked, studying him.
And that's when it clicked.
It was Sky. Sky was the one who had helped him.
"Senior!" Nani yelped, immediately bowing. "I'm so sorry for causing you trouble! Thank you for helping me last night!"
Sky chuckled. "Relax. You were entertaining."
Nani flushed in embarrassment.
Sky tilted his head. "Who was the guy that picked you up?"
"My friend," Nani said. "He's in the Art Department."
"Ah, I see." Sky nodded before glancing at the clock. "Don't you have class?"
"Oh, sh—" Nani took off running again.
Or at least, he tried.
For the second time that morning, he tripped—this time, on absolutely nothing.
Sky watched as Nani landed on the ground once more, sitting there, cradling his knee with a defeated sigh.
Shaking his head, Sky walked over and held out his hand again.
Nani groaned, accepting the help. "My senses aren't working yet," he muttered under his breath, rubbing at his temple. "Probably too much Alpha pheromones from last night."
He didn't think Sky would hear him.
But Sky did.
"What?"
"Nothing," Nani blurted out, waving his hands. "I don't think I can catch this class anymore. I should sit somewhere."
Sky didn't say anything, just followed him as he limped toward a nearby bench.
"You can go, Senior," Nani mumbled, waving him off. "I'll be fine in a minute."
Instead of leaving, Sky handed him a water bottle.
Nani blinked before chuckling. "I'm getting déjà vu right now."
Sky shook his head, but a small smirk tugged at his lips. He sat beside Nani, crossing his legs as he studied him.
Nani felt the weight of his gaze and turned to him with a raised brow. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
Sky didn't answer. He just... stared.
Nani coughed awkwardly, shifting under the intensity of the look.
Then, all of a sudden—
"Oh!" Sky blurted, standing up so abruptly that Nani flinched.
"What the hell?" Nani mumbled, startled.
"I should leave now," Sky declared, spinning on his heel.
And just like that, he walked away—leaving behind a very confused Nani.
And his water bottle.
Nani stared at it, then at Sky's retreating figure.
"What the hell was that?"
