He scoffed. "Who am I? I'm your friend, Y/n! We'll win together! Well, only one person can win, so you'll have to step down, but you'll get second! We'll go down in Tournament history!"
"A friend wouldn't threaten those I care for. You- you changed." You muttered, crouching, ready to fight.
Breaking a branch off of a tree, he readied, glaring at you. He started circling you. "We're really gonna do this, huh? I never changed. You just never knew me. Winning is always my top priority. And if I have to climb over others to get to the top? So be it."
You took a breath, grounding yourself. "What happens when you fall? When you have to look back down at those you beat?"
Baring his teeth, he grinned. "Well good thing I'm only going up."
"Then I'm going to pull you down."
You leapt forward, blocking the stick with your forearm. Roll under another swing. Block a hit. Spin. Duck. Roll. Block. It was like a dance you had practiced until it was mindless. You had been fighting for at least a third of your life, even without Elemental Power, you were capable.
Kicking out his feet, you grabbed the stick, throwing it to the side.
Turner reached for your belt, trying to pull you down. Playing dirty again.
Pulling back, you watched him scramble to his feet, panting. He had never had to worry about endurance before.
You kicked his knee out, forcing him to kneel. But you wanted him lower.
Grabbing his jaw, you pushed him to the ground, boot pressing down on his sternum so he'd stay. You felt powerful.
With your free hand, you grabbed the gold dragon from his uniform, dangling it above his face. You felt.. a foreign feeling as you watched the light in his eyes fade as he realized.
He was out.
And you felt excited at him failing.
"Now, you're looking from the bottom." You spat, standing up. Tucking the dragon into your pocket, you sighed, running a hand through your hair. "Funny thing, we're on a mountain. So I guess you'll go lower now you're eliminated."
Turner, swallowed, stumbling to his feet. His cheekbone was bruised, glasses cracked. "Y/n! I didn't- I didn't mean it! C'mon, I helped you guys with Chen! Why are you treating me like a bad guy?!"
"I'm not. I'm treating you like what you are. A jerk." You glanced over, the metallic whirring of a security bot walking over. "I'm not going to be some tool for you. Naive teen or not. And there's your escort. Bye Turner."
He tried to pull back to you, but the droid was efficient at pulling him back. He was vaguely cursing you out, but you didn't care.
Then he was gone.
Rubbing at your face, you glanced up at the sky. You felt like a bad person. But you almost could feel a weight off of your chest.
"..Damn that was hot."
You raised a brow, glancing over to the brush. "Lloyd. Seriously? How long have you been there?" Smiling you walked over, offering him a hand to stand.
He took it, pulling himself up. "I was walking nearby and Sora ran into me. ...Literally. Said you needed help, but by the time I got over here you were... Doing that. Nice going." He bumped your shoulder, smiling.
Sora stepped out from behind him, not blending into the foliage as well. "But hey, one less competitor now right?"
She did have a point.
