"Are you ready? Do you have everything?" My mother gushed fiddling with my already perfectly set collar. "Oh my baby's going away."
I rolled my eyes playfully. It had been like this for the entire car ride over here. She was fussing and we both knew it.
"I have everything. You packed and repacked at least ten times!" I giggled hugging her shoulders. "Everything will be fine and you'll see me all the time. I don't know if you heard, but there's this new thing going on."
"Oh really what's that smartass?" She asked rolling her dark eyes.
"Well the aliens came down recently and with then came some very advanced alien technology. Now I know it's unfamiliar concepts for you but Skype really isn't that hard to figure out." I smiled holding in my unrelenting laughter.
"Keep trying to be a smartass Blaire." She said shaking her head playfully.
"You know you love me." I teased.
"You know I do. Oh Blaire what am I going to do without you. The house will be so quite."
"Get a cat then." I teased.
She scrunched up her nose in disgust. "I detest those creatures. They're... ugh."
I laughed out loud causing the other waiting passengers to give me strange looks. My mother hated cats with a passion. If she could kill off any one species everyone in our family knew what poor animal wouldn't make the cut.
"Mom I need to go. My flights boarding." I told her gently spilling sadly.
"My baby all grown up and going off to school. I love you so much Blaire, so so much and I'm going to miss you. Just remember to call me when you're not busy and do your homework. Don't forget to brush your teeth and lock the doors. Please be safe." She gushed crushing me to her chest in a warm mom like embrace.
"Don't worry mom. I will do all of that , and we'll Skype all the time and I'll fly down when I can. I'll miss you to mommy." I whispered hugging back just as fiercely.
"All passengers on flight EK774 please report to check in. All passengers on flight EK774 please report to check in."
"Thats me mom. I have to go now." I murmured letting go gently. "Love you mom."
"I love you to baby. Have a safe trip."
Those were the last things I said to her before hoisting my backpack over my shoulders and throwing my laptop bag across my body.
Soon I was seated and buckled in ready for the long plane trip to G.C.
Maybe I could sleep through it, that would probably be the best thing and then maybe I wouldn't keep thinking that something was wrong with the engines.
Damn you for making me watch those bloody movies mom. Now I was terrified of terrorist on the plane, snakes on the plane ELEPHANTS on the PLANE.
Yeah.... I dont know where that last one came from.
Okay Crash just go to sleep. No zombies will eat your brains while you doze off.
And my eyes were just closing when a sharp pain hit me from behind and it went on and on and on.
I turned around to give whoever it was that was kicking my chair an earful but it was just a little kid. Imagine how I would look yelling at a squirt like that he looked like he was barely rocking all his teeth.
Which he didn't mind flashing to me in a toothless grin, before swiftly kicking my chair again.
That's it. "Hey bud." I smiled flashing my own grin.
"Fal said not to talk to strangers. He said they'd eat my toes and steal my fingers." He finished very seriously staring me straight in the eye.
I giggled a little and showed him my fingers. "Fal is right you shouldn't talk to strangers but don't worry I have my own fingers and I don't like toes I much prefer pizza with extra cheese."
He beamed now and scrunched up his nose reminding me of my mom. "As long as there's no stinky little fish."
"You mean anchovies?" I asked and he nodded. "Dont worry I hate those. They smell."
"I like you stranger girl you wanna be friends?" He asked shyly ducking his head.
Awww this kid was adorable with his spiky black hair and and coal grey eyes. Like a little fluffy teddybear.
"Deal but you have to stop calling me stranger girl. You can call me Crash."
"But crash isn't a name it's what happens when you go too fast in a trike." He told me gravely waving his finger at me.
"I'll tell you a secret okay." He nodded eagerly. "When I was little I was really clumsy and I tripped all the time. My knees always had scars and scrapes cos I was such a klutz. So my friends started calling me Crash."
"Ohhh I fall all the time too. Fal calls me a klutz. But what's your real name? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours."
I looked at him seriously. "Can you keep it a secret." He nodded quickly. I dropped my voice low and whispered to him. "My names ... Blaire. "
"That's pretty. My names Archer but you can call me Archie everyone calls me Archie."
"How bout I give you a nickname like mine?"
"Yay." He cheered. " I always wanted a nickname."
"Kay how about ..." ahhh I couldn't think of anything. "Whats your favourite colour."
"Blue." He said in a of course voice.
"Then your new nickname is Blue. It'll be our secret you can call me Crash and I'll call you Blue."
"Im not gonna call you crash. Im gonna call you Jet. Okay but no telling Fal will be mad if he thinks I talked to a stranger."
"Blue." I told him seriously. " you shouldn't talk to strangers. Some of them are really not as nice as me."
"I promise Jet."
"Blue I actually turned around cos I wanted you to stop kicking my chair."
"I'm sorry Jet. I didnt mean to." He pouted hitting me with his killer puppy dog eyes.
"As its okay Blue but promise me if I go to sleep."
"Yeah..."
"Make sure no one eats my brains."
He started laughing at me. The little squirt actually started laughing at me hysterically. "Sure Jet I'll protect you. Night night Jet."
"Night night Blue." I smiled at him brightly before turning around and falling into a deep sleep.
