Chapter 32: Im falling in... HATE
I couldn't sleep. Something about being in his bed, having him holding me so close, it made a part of my soul burn.... but not with hatred.
I should hate him... I did, so why could I still feel the ghost of his arms on my waist, a phantom breath on my ear.
The night passed fast with me tossing in an entirely too cold bed. Dawn came bright and true accompanied by yet another scream, two in fact.
"Ryder,"
With that as my alarm I got up, washed and dressed. The girls met me for breakfast and Cane joined us.
"Sleep well?" Cane asked.
"Revenge makes for the perfect bed fellow." I snorted.
"Both of them have been terrorizing the school looking for you!" Nicole laughed.
"When do you think they're going to realise I'm not hiding."
Addy paled looking over my shoulder. "About now."
Sure enough when I looked back there were two angry hulking males one with strawbery pink hair the other a look alike of the joker. Madness burned in their eyes.
"Run." Neeks mouthed.
I said I wasn't hiding... running never came up. Getting up I bolted but not before two heavily muscled tanks tore after me.
Dodging and darting I made it half way across the cafeteria before a pair of strong arms picked me up. They seized my waist and with about as much effort as it took me to lift my bag tossed me over their shoulder.
"Get the hell off me Falcon!" I shrieked.
"No! Im done with your games Blaire. First you vandalised my car and now my hair, what the ever loving f**k is wrong with you!"
"Dont pretend Avery you know why now put me down people are looking up my skirt."
"Easy fix," he grumbled.
He smoothed down my skirt and placed his hand squarely on my butt.
"Get your hand off my butt!"
"Tell me what I did."
"Falcon let her go, you're making her uncomfortable." Cane roared getting to his feet.
Suddenly a light went off in his eyes and his voice dropped so only I could hear it.
"That's right little tiger is innocent, sexual tension makes you uncomfortable."
And suddenly I was flipped and out of the cafeteria. Falcon had both my legs pinned around his waist and I squirmed like hell to get out.
"Are you uncomfortable cher?"
"Falcon let me go." I could feel tears glisten in my eyes and they surprised him.
Suddenly I was released except for two strong arms around my waist.
"What happened to you little tiger?"
I broke away and bolted never looking back but if I had I would have seen him raise a hand to catch me a confused expression on his face.
"That's it what the holy hell just happened!" Cane seethed then turned to us, "You and you outside now."
Once he had dragged Addy and I out he sat down on a stone bench.
"I understand she doesn't want anyone knowing but this has gone far enough. You will be telling me everything. Now."
Addy and I shared a distressed look.
"He's her friend too."
And so we told him about Falcons failed plan, the parasitic Liam, Blair's escape and how we found her.
"She was broken Cane and I didn't know if we could ever put her back together."
"That's why she's pranking so dangerously, she just doesn't want to be the victim."
I nodded and saw true pain in his eyes. "I'll kill him. He'll die do you understand and no one will look for him."
"Blaire just wants to forget, respect that."
My blood boiled as I imagined that worms hands on her. Pictured the bruises on her pale skin. And then I thought of my best friend the man who was as close to a brother as I had and I found my hand fisting at my side.
How could he be so clueless and blind. How could he hurt her so.
Darkness fell across the campus and soon the students were silent. All but two were asleep. No these two were plotting.
"I want this war over soon Archie is visiting."
"I've missed the squirt how is he?"
"Growing fast, he's been missing me so I told mum to send him over for a while what with it being Halloween week it's not like were going to get any work done."
"Are you sure about what you're doing this is permanent."
"So is the damage to my car and pride."
Silently they slipped into Sectum house and into the sleeping girl's room. Nicole slept peacefully barely noticing the muffled snip snip or sudden loss of weight.
Soon after they reached Arcum the arty building looked haunted in the gloaming hour and in time they found Addelaide's room. The sleeping girl stood no chance.
Finally they reached home. Two halls later and Falcon came face to face with a sleeping Blaire.
Her curly hair spread out across her white pillow like a banner. Ebony silk, the girl herself hummed softly reaching out for something and then stopping.
Beautiful. He thought but quickly banished the thought.
He'd sent Luca away insisting he could mange this one alone but as he lifted an ebony lock his heart twisted. He couldn't do it.
He loved her hair too much, the silky tresses he longed to run his hand through, but never would. Falcon was a prideful asshole and he knew it.
Because Cane was right. Luca wasn't the only one head over heels he was just as much a besotted fool.
It was why he felt so strongly about her, was so passionate even in his hatred. It was why it burned him to not know why she hated him so, for a while he even thought they were getting along.
Of course Falcon didn't really know any of this. He was too pig headed to sort through all the feelings. As far as he was concerned he hated her and she hated him.
As to why he couldn't bare to cut her hair? He didn't know.
