Chapter One:                                                                                                                                                              *present time: age twenty-two*

"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" I heard my roommate scream from across the apartment that we shared.

I groaned, rolling my eyes, sitting up in my queen-sized bed, "Max, why the hell are you screaming at seven in the morning!"

When Max refused to reply in actual words, I groaned once more before slipping out from underneath my covers and stood up. I kicked my slippers to the side, not bothering to put them on over my knee high socks, and shuffled out of my bedroom,

"Max!" I yelled walking down the hallway to her bedroom. I knocked on her bedroom door and the screaming died down. "You're going to make out neighbors worried for our state of being!"

The door swung open, revealing my friend who was physically shaking with a freakishly large smile placed on her face. I glanced behind her to see her boyfriend, Kian, sat on her bed, laughing his ass off at what must have been a hilarious to him.

"It's way too early for this screaming act," I ran a hand down my face and glared at her, "Now care to explain to me why you are screaming?"

When Max opened her mouth, there were no words, only screams which made me cover my ears, "Stop it!"

I looked to Kian who was still laughing, clutching his stomach, unable to stop. I rolled my eyes and pushed past Max to stand closer to Kian. I narrowed my eyes, crossing my arms, "What on earth did you do?"

It took a moment for him to get his breath back, but once he did he was able to answer, "I got her tickets to her favorite band."

"5sos!" Max screamed, making me jump from her sudden sound.

"Five save our souls? Awesome! Maybe we can save mine and Nicole's souls from damnation!" I smiled, clasping my hands in a sarcastic manner.

"It's 5 Seconds of Summer, you dumbass," Max shook her head whilst rolling her eyes.

"Forgive me, Ms. Sassy Pants," I laughed, putting my hands in the air just as a yawn forced its way up my throat. "Good for you. I'll be going back to sleep. Wake me in three hours, preferably by not screaming."

"Kian's got me two tickets. You're coming with me."

"What?" I turned around, looking at her with wide eyes, "But I don't even know anything about these guys."

"Of course you do. You know everything I do about them."

"I've listened to you talk about this band for nearly four years now; do you honestly think I sustained any of that information."

"You're still hung up on the fact that they haven't made any 'classic rock' songs? Are you kidding me, Dani? That was years ago! You're twenty-two for heavens sakes." She shook her head.

"And so are you! It's been over four years since you've found about this one band and you've obsessed over them ever since!" I scrunched up my nose, "You know what, it's too early for me to think about this. I'm going back to bed."

And with that, I turned and made my way out of her bedroom and towards mine. Four years had pretty much passed since my friends and I had graduated from high school. And two years afterward, all of us were enrolled at the same college with an incredible stroke of luck.

Once I eventually told them that I had received a full ride scholarship to UCLA, they were slightly upset that I had kept it from them for so long.

Getting the scholarship was great and all; it being nice that I was able to leave Minnesota to come to the warm, sunny state of California; but I was extremely lonely after being alone for nearly a year.

Just when I thought I was going to die from loneliness, Max, Nicole, Jacob, Connor, and Kian skyped me holding their acceptance letters to UCLA. As happy as it made me, I wanted to make sure that they sure that they didn't just apply to this school to stay close to me, but they were trying to get into a good school.

So now, all of us are stuck in LA together. A group of six dysfunctional twenty-something-year-olds.

Yawning, I climbed back underneath my covers and closed my eyes, hoping to get some more sleep.

"Danielle! You're going to be late!" a sudden deep voice yelled in my ear.

Naturally, I screamed and fell out of my bed, startled by the sudden sound. I sat up, groaning, and pressed a hand to my head, before proceeding to glare at the idiotic boy who woke me up, "How many times do I have to tell you it's Dani, jerk."

"Bitch," he laughed, helping me get to my feet, "I woke you cause you've got class in half an hour."

"Oh shit!" I panicked, rushing over my closet and grabbing a random shirt from one of the hangers. I glanced at it quickly, approving of the AC DC design and tugging it on over my tank top. "It takes me fifteen minutes just to get to campus!"

"That's why I'm here," Jacob smiled at me. "If it weren't for me you'd probably be drowned in reality."

"Oh shut up," I rolled my eyes, "Go and make some coffee or something."

I quickly made my way over to my small dresser as he left the room laughing and kicked off my shorts. I grabbed a pair of black jeans and quickly pulled them on. Once I was dressed, I ran down the hall to the bathroom that Max and I shared and pulled a brush through my hair.

After finishing getting dressed, I walked to the kitchen.

"Took you long enough," Jacob flashed me a cheeky grin as I slid on my shoes.

"That's record time, Jakey Poo," I smiled, grabbing my car keys, "I need to get going. Don't destroy the apartment while I'm gone."

"Max would never let me get too out of control," he smiled once more, taking a sip of his coffee as I walked out of our apartment.

As soon as I got in my car, I headed on my way to the college campus, hoping that I would make it in time before class started. Whilst I drove, a sort of familiar song played on the radio, that I let briefly play.

"Congratulations! Your imitations! Are taking over the radio stations!"

I nodded my head along with the words before plugging in my aux cord to my phone and playing my music playlist. The first song that played was Highway To Hell by AC DC which caused me to smile.

"Living easy! Living free!" I sang along with the music, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel.

Once I arrived on campus, I quickly parked my car before practically running to class. I swear I had never run so fast in my life. Running track in high school didn't even compare to how fast I ran. I burst through my door to my photography class and found a seat at the front where the only open seats were. I made it just before the teacher did, thank the lord.

As class started, I found it pretty hard to focus. I had never been to an actual concert where the tickets cost more than five dollars, and now the first one I would be attending would be to a band I don't even like all that much.

Maxine could be a psychopath at times, but I suppose that's why I love her so much. Class pretty much dragged on, probably because my mind was somewhere else. I couldn't focus no matter how hard I tried.

I would be stuck on campus for a bit longer as I had a few more classes left today. As I made my way to my creative writing class, I couldn't shove away the thoughts of the concert. On my way to campus, Max had texted me telling me that the concert was in a few days and that Kian had got her VIP access, giving us the ability to meet them.

Of course, Max was ecstatic about that, but I, on the other hand, couldn't care less.

Oh god, I am probably going to die.

And not from excitement.
