After dinner I went back to my cabin and fell asleep. Then the dreams began.
There was this huge beast chasing me in a place that looked like a maze. Percy was there with me. He was holding his sword, Riptide ready for battle.
“Have you seen them?” he asked me worriedly
“Seen who?” I replied “Annabeth?”
“Calliste and Ella” he replied
I didn’t have time to answer him because hundreds of scorpions started to surround us. They were larger than the ones at camp.
“You take the scorpions, I take that thing.” He told me
“Sure” I answered, unsheathing my sword
I began dodging the venom the scorpions were throwing at me. I managed to disintegrate some scorpions but they keep on growing in number. I saw a door so I quickly opened the door and locked myself in. Remembering that I had left Percy, I opened the door and held a sigh of relief because the scorpions were gone. I saw Percy fighting the beast with Riptide his sword. I decided to help him. The beast was very muscular and was as huge as an oil tank. It looked nothing like the monsters Chiron had taught us. I raised some skeleton soldiers to help Percy and I. The beast was starting to get weaker and weaker. There was a flag pole near the beast so I decided I should climb it and strike my sword at the beast’s chest. As I was about to strike the beast I noticed that there was a fountain. Percy must’ve noticed it too because after that I was wet from head to toe and the monster was gone.
“They’re probably in that door.” Percy suggested
When I opened the door I saw Calliste and Ella tied to a chair. They had tape on their mouths and their hands and feet were tied so tightly that their hands were bleeding. Ella had passed out while Calliste looked like she had been crying. I went in and started cutting the rope in Calliste’s feet. Calliste looked at me like if she was warning me that something was about to happen. After that I felt something hit me in the head and I slowly fell into the darkness.
I woke up and I thought about Calliste. She was kind, understanding, funny and had very beautiful blue eyes. She had wavy blonde hair and electric blue eyes. She was kind of shy and she hated being in the spotlight though once you get to know her you’d love to spend time with her. It seems impossible that she could be a daughter of Zeus. He was more dramatic than any dead actor I’ve seen in the Underworld. You can’t like her Nico I told myself. Sure she may be the first girl that isn’t afraid to be seen with you but she’s the daughter of your father’s enemy. If he found out about this he would be disappointed in you.
After a few hours of lying down in my bed trying to sleep, I decided to clean up because there would be a cabin inspection in awhile. I went to under my bed and I found a photo. It was a picture of Bianca and me, the day before she left for a quest. Calliste reminded me of Bianca. In some ways they were alike. They were both funny and loved making me laugh. They both understood that I needed to have my own space. If Bianca were still alive today I bet she and Calliste would be great friends. I quickly wiped the tear on my eye and started rummaging other stuff under my bed.
After inspection, I had Ancient Greek with the rest of the campers in Camp Half-Blood. I was going to sit beside Will Solace, son of Apollo when I spotted Calliste with her friend. I decided to go up to her and say hi but she spotted me first.
“Hi Nico! This is Ella.” She pointed at the girl with dark hair, sea green deep set eyes and pale skin.
“Hi!” Ella said
“Hello!” I replied
“Do you want to sit with us?” Calliste asked
“Sure” I told her
After awhile Chiron entered and said “Today we are going to discuss about how the Olympians overthrew their father the titan Cronus.” He was interrupted by lightning entering the sky. Then he continued “We will also learn about the other Minor gods………” he continued.
I got tired of listening and fell asleep. Then after around 30 minutes of sleeping someone started to shake me.
“I’m tired. Wake me up when Minotaurs fly!” I groaned
“Nico class is finished.” The voice whispered. Immediately I knew it was Calliste’s.
As all of us began exiting the classroom Chiron called on Calliste. I decided to eavesdrop and watch them outside the classroom.
“Calliste, I have something for you.” Chiron said as he got from his drawer a necklace with a blue lightning pendant.
“Cool! What’s that for?” she asked
“Zeus requested it to be given to you for your protection.”
“Um thanks Chiron. By the way how does this work?” Calliste asked, holding the necklace. It was the same color as her eyes.
“Just pull the pull the pendant out and it turns into a mini Master Bolt.” Chiron replied
“Oh Okay” Calliste said as she tried following what Chiron did awhile ago and she was just about to pull the pendant out but Chiron stopped her. “Don’t!! You might explode the camp!!”
“Sorry Chiron! I won’t try it at camp.” she said as she left.
She saw me near the door and I prayed to the gods that she wouldn’t know that I had been eavesdropping.
“Hi!” she waved
“Hey! So what’s your next subject?” I asked
“Cleaning Stables” she said glumly
“Don’t worry Percy will be there to help you.” I assured her
“Why is he expert in cleaning?”
I stopped myself from the urge to laugh because I remembered the last time I went to Percy’s apartment his room was dirtier than any of the Horse’s Stables.
“When Percy had a bet to clean a very filthy stable full of flesh eating horse before sunset once he did it by turning seashells into water. The horses were so afraid of him they forgot to eat us.” I told her
“Can Ella do that too?” She asked
“I don’t know since not all children of Poseidon can control water.” I told her
“I’ll ask her later. So what’s your next subject?” she asked me
“Polishing Armor” I told her
“Aww, I don’t get to spend time with you!” she said
I felt my cheeks getting red. I turned away and I looked at the ground.
“Oh sorry I didn’t mean to embarrass you but if you don’t want to stay with me you can just say so.” She said as she noticed that I felt a little uncomfortable. I was going to tell her its fine but she already left.
