We arrived in a much deeper part of the forest, which I noticed that the ground had become damp. A clearing started to open up ahead, and I saw a foggy lake with a ray of sunlight shining in it.
"Whoa," I gasped running forwards. "What is this place?"
Seth snickered. "I'm not exactly sure myself. I found it a while ago. My reaction was the same as yours."
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah I know. I come here to think and calm down. In fact, right now there's something I'm struggling with."
"Maybe I could help." I offered.
Again, Seth laughed. "No, I don't think that's possible."
"Huh, why not?"
"Well because I don't think that you'll help someone working for Death."
At the mention of Death I immediately jumped back and drew my swords.
The boy sighed and got up. "Alright here's the deal. You just need to come back with me and I won't hurt you. Make this easy on yourself."
I just put myself in a fighting stance and got ready for the incoming battle.
Seth shrugged his shoulders and pulled out a black kunai with a black, leather wrapped handle. I charged but didn't get far as a dagger suddenly appeared at my feet. I see, he used it as a throwing weapon rather than a melee weapon. That just meant I had to get up close and personal. I started running once again, dodging the knives that kept trying to pierce me. Seth back up and threw another but I flicked my blade up and deflected it sending it into a nearby tree. I was getting close now and he was starting to look nervous. I swiped at him but he ducked and tripped me, sending me across the ground. As I got up I saw three more kunai coming towards me. I jumped over them and, regaining my footing, pressed on with my attack. I just had to get close. As I made my way towards him, I noticed he seemed calmer and more collected than before. Ignoring it, I slashed at him with both my swords cutting across like an X. He blocked it and pushed back but so did I.
"You just had to choose the fighting option didn't you. I saved your life and this is how you repay me? All I asked was a simple favor." Seth grunted as I put more force into my attack.
"No thanks, I don't feel like dying today. Maybe some other time." I replied and head smashed him.
He staggered and I brought my swords down once again. However he put his arm up and blocked it with his scales. This caught me off guard and he used this, stabbing at me with his dagger. My new armor absorbed the blow and I punched forwards. He caught my fist, though, and began to crush it.
"Agh! God dammit let go!" I screamed and sent a dark fist into him. He flew back and into a tree. I held my hand as it begun to heal and the bones moved back into place. I looked over at Seth now getting up. I jumped at him and he narrowly avoided me cutting off his head. I quickly spun on my heel and sliced into his side, finally landing a blow. He gasped as I fired a beam of darkness at him. He moved out of the way but I redirected it and it crashed into his back. The force of it sent him sprawling on the ground. I grinned and let loose another beam just as a back up. That buzzing in my ears was back, although faint. I ignored it and was about to continue my assault when I felt a strong gust of wind come from Seth. I looked on as he got up, the clenched and unclenched his hands.
"Wow. I guess you're really strong Dark." He grinned. "It's time to let loose."
He closed his eyes and I could see that he was focusing. A moment later his eyes flashed open and a blood red aura with dark green flecks erupted around him. Wisps of red spiraled off him and the aura grew spiky.
"What... what the hell?" I spluttered. "Are you... are you an Elementalist?"
"Figured it out huh? Yes, I control an element. I can use the element of destruction and madness. I control chaos."
"Chaos?" I gulped. It sounded powerful.
"Now one more time. Come with me and I won't have to hurt you."
"Not. Going. To happen."
Seth ran at me, now on all fours as his aura took on the shape of a wolf. He slashed at me with his kunai, one in each hand, and I just only blocked but the force knocked me hard onto the ground. As I got up I noticed he was flying towards me and before I could react he jammed a fist into my gut. I coughed up blood and was shot backwards, but before I could land he appeared behind me and slashed at my back. My armor saved me from being cut in two but I coughed up another volume of blood as I was sent flying into the lake.
I stared up at the sky as I began to sink. The buzzing in my ears grew louder as my vision went black. A voice in my head whispered to me.
'Give yourself to me. Let loose the darkness.'
No, I couldn't.
'You have to, or you'll die.' It hissed.
It was right. Seth was too strong. I had to do this.
'Alright, I give in to the darkness.'
I got no reply from the voice. However I felt all feeling in my body leave. I saw that I was rising out of the water and landed back on the ground.
"Good, you're still alive. Death needs you." Seth said.
"Death won't touch me." Both the voice in my head and I said.
An aura of darkness suddenly surrounded me, enhancing my physical strength and my control over the shadows.
Seth sprang at me, his kunai raised. I raised my hand and a spire of darkness erupted out of the ground, impaling itself through the crimson boys shoulder. He screamed out in pain and I formed a black hand. I grabbed him and threw him down, then kicked him with a shadowy foot. This continued until I finally threw him into the ground.
I crossed my arms as Seth began to get up, although swaying.
"H-how did you get this power Dark?" He asked, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
"Funny, minion of Death. You still think I'm that weakling."
"Well if you aren't Dark, what are you?"
Instead of replying I rushed at him with my swords drawn. I did two quick slashes which he managed to deflect but then I kicked him in the face and he flew backwards, but he landed on his hands and back flipped onto his feet. Seth threw a chaos infused kunai, which grew to the size of a tree. I simply used my dark hand to grab it and throw it back like a spear.
"Dammit!" Seth caught it but couldn't hold it and it was sent skywards. As he looked back he received an elbow to the face. He staggered backwards and fell down onto the ground, his aura dispersing.
I was about to charge forwards but all of a sudden a wall of bones sprang up out of the ground. As it disappeared I saw that Seth had vanished. Damn it! Death must have saved him. I felt the darkness grow angry as my aura started to close around me. Claws and fangs started to form as did a tail. I soon resembled a wolf, just like Seth had. I howled at the sky and raced towards the town, needing to find a new victim.
On the inside however, it was like I was trapped behind a locked door, screaming at the darkness to let me back out and be in control once more.
