I, or it. were now out of the woods and in the town, causing destruction wherever we went. I shot a beam of black out of my hands and it completely demolished a house. People were running around everywhere, scared, panicked and trying to find any safe place to go. Someone ran up to me with what looked to be a stick, and I punched them tearing them in half. I drew my swords and slashed in a cross, sending arcs of darkness everywhere. I howled and ran through the town.
Inside I kept trying to break through to no avail. The darkness was too strong.
'Why would you want to be back in control?' It whispered in my head. 'Right now you are the strongest person alive. You have the power to destroy anything or anyone that stands in your way.'
'Dammit!' I shouted. 'I don't want to destroy. I want to be able to control my powers and save lives!'
'Bah! What a weak goal. You should be striving for power and trying to become the strongest in the world.'
'What's the point in becoming strongest if you have no one else to protect?'
The darkness ignored me and I went back to trying to free myself from its grasp.
Back on the outside, things were getting worse. Bodies were scattered across the ground, buildings were destroyed and screams filled the air.
Then, I saw Ethan, Sapphire, Blaze and Jasmine run up to me.
"What is that thing?" Blaze exclaimed."I-I don't know." Jasmine replied.
Ethan stared at me. "Guys, I think that's Dark.""What?!"
"Yeah. It looks like he must have lost control of his powers."
Blaze drew his sword, the line of fire going up it shone fiercely. "Well we have to stop him and make sure he can control it."
Ethan drew his curved blade too, but looked weary. "Just try not to hurt him too badly."
Jasmine looked at him. "I don't think we have that luxury buddy."
Then they all charged at me.
Sapphire tried using vines to trap my feet while Jasmine shot a torrent of water at me. I was hit with the force of a truck and was sent flying backwards, but not before I was blasted by water yet again. I flipped back and landed on my all fours again. I dashed forwards, quicker than they thought I could run, and slashed at Sapphire. I landed a sword strike across her chest and I followed it up with a dark hand smashing into her face. She skidded across the ground, stopping at Blaze's feet. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jasmine shoot a spear of ice at me. I summoned a shadowy tendril, caught it and threw it back at twice the speed. She blocked it with a thick wall of ice but as it melted away I landed a blow to her stomach. She staggered back and I shot a beam the size of a car at her. All she could do was cross her arms as it hit her and exploded on impact. I rushed forwards at her, forging a claw but then a pillar of earth rose underneath me and sent me skywards. I managed to land on the branch of a tree and looked to see Blaze, fire in one hand and sword in the other. He would be the biggest threat as he had his elemental weapon, which unlocked his powers fully.
He thrust his arm and suddenly the tree I was on caught fire. I jumped off towards him but was met with a face full of rocks.
"Dark, you have to stop this." He demanded.
"Shut up. You just want him to stop because you are jealous he had power, and you fear that." The darkness hissed.
"What the hell? Who or what are you?"
"I am the true darkness. I am pure evil and I've run out of patience with all of you."
I thrust my hands out and black threads began to swirl together in my palms to make an orb of shadows. I threw it towards Blaze and he raised a wall of stone to block attempt to block it. However my attack ripped right through his shield and smashed him in his chest. A tendril whipped him into the air, then right back into the ground again. Then I made a dark hammer and hit him, but he managed to block it with his sword. I charged at him and swiped with my swords. I heard him gasp in pain and the hammer finally connect. It dispersed and I looked back to see Blaze lying in a massive crater.
He stirred and began to get back up, but I started rapidly punching the ground in front of me, which formed two fists above Blaze and copied the action. He was barraged with the punches and had no way to block it. Eventually I stopped and, as the dust cloud began to settle, I saw a light.
Blaze stood, although swaying, and was clenching his sword with both hands. He shouted and an aura burst out of him. Unlike mine however, his looked to be made out of his real element. Flames danced along his body, eventually swirling around his sword.
"Dark, I'm gonna bring you back alright." He looked at me.
The darkness forced me to run at him but pillars of fire sprang up out of the ground. Using my moment of surprise he charged through swinging his sword. I used my own to cross and block and I pushed him back. He quickly recovered though and shot a spurt of fire at me. It hit me and suddenly I was lit ablaze. Both the darkness and me screamed out in pain as the flames engulfed me. I called out to the shadows, forming a cocoon around my body which smothered the flames.
I sensed him coming towards me and I crossed then uncrossed me arms. The cocoon exploded and was sent spiraling towards him. It wrapped around his body, only leaving his head in view, and begun to literally squeeze the life out of him.
"Dire fire user, DIE!" The darkness cackled.
Then, all of a sudden, a sword slashed my back.
It didn't hurt me because of my armor but it broke my concentration and I let Blaze go. He fell to the ground, coughing and trying to get air into his lungs.
I turned around to see Ethan, looking worried holding his blade.
"You know I have armor on, right? That didn't even hurt me as much as annoy me." My voice said, though it wasn't me.
"Let Dark go. We need him." Was all Ethan said.
"Why would I do that? He's so much more powerful now. All you're doing is dragging him down, human."
"That may be, but he's still my friend and I know he doesn't want to do this. I won't let you use him you bastard!"
I simply shrugged and shot a beam at him. He rolled out of the way and I ran towards him and kicked him hard in the side. He skidded across the ground and hit the trunk of a tree. I saw the blood ooze from his nose and mouth and on the inside I cried out. On the outside however I swung my swords and a wave of shadows exploded out towards him. He managed to just get out of the way as the tree was cut clean in two.
"D-Dark, you have to break free." He coughed as he somehow stood up. "You a-always tell me that even though I'm normal I'm still strong." Ethan then coughed blood making me cringe. "You're strong too Dark, so don't let something as weak as your own power control you. Break free!"
He was right. I couldn't let something like this control me. I was in control of it. Inside I smashed through the locked door. The darkness, who look exactly like me except for pure black skin, spun around.
'What are you doing?! I'm giving you all this power.'
'Yes, the power that I'm in control of. I'm in charge , so leave and don't come back.'
The darkness looked at me then snickered. 'I'll leave for now, but until you truly learn to wield me I will return.' It disappeared and suddenly the world I was in melted away. My voice returned and I saw Ethan standing by me, bloody, bruised and holding his side.
"Dark?" He asked.
"Yeah buddy, it's me." I replied.
He smiled and nodded, then fell forwards. I caught him, but then my vision turned black and soon I was unconscious, feeling exhausted and awful.*Sorry this chapter is so small everyone. It was originally meant to be a second part to the chapter before it and be posted basically right after it, but exams came up quick and I kind of fell behind. Still, I hope you enjoyed it.*
