"Get me to the nearest cafe gas station!"
Falcon looked dubious but floored it up the long stretch of road while my phone buzzed.
Just a little more.
Finally a grungy cafe came up attached to a gas joint.
I bolted out and sat myself in the closest empty seat. Falcon trailed behind me giving his bloody fiancé excuse to the curious onlookers.
The seat that resembled an airport booth was right at the back so I parked my butt. Making sure my background looked appropriate I hit answer.
"Darling why did you take so long?" She was suspicious.
"Uh you know the usual airport garbage some weirdo thought my bag was his."
"I hope you sorted it out."
"Oh yeah definitely."
Falcon was laughing his ass off in front of me and I glared.
"So where are you exactly?"
"Me, where I am, I'm in an airport cafe... Yeah airport cafe."
"With a road in the windows view."
Both my and Falcons heads rocketed to the side. Schist there right next to my picturesque airport seat was the bloody road.
"Yeah... It's a uhh window screen you know like the one in Harrods it's all automated. The place is actually called the road diner."
"Really," she was raising her eyebrows, damn.
"Yeah see I can wave at the guy walking down the road and he won't wave back."
I waved desperately and hoped the worlds failing social state would help me, but the dunce waved back. Just my luck to find the one friendly person on the world!
"Wow those are some damn good animatronics."
"Mhmmmmm." She was squinting now never a good sign with her. "So if you're at a diner why aren't you ordering anything?"
"Order?" Oh crap, "I uhm... I'm waiting for a server."
"Hi welcome to the road diner my name is Cory Mathews and I'll be your server today."
Standing in front of me sunglasses still on and a sarcastic expression firmly fixed was falcon. He looked less than pleased and I looked shocked so did mum!
"I'll have a coffee." I squeaked.
"Coming right up darling."
"The road diner you say. How interesting."
"Very mum but I have to go now you know airport data and all that. Bye love you miss you ciao."
I hung up and nearly fist pumped the air!
Falcon just shook his head and o somehow knew that he was rolling his eyes behind his glasses. Speaking of.
"Why are you even wearing those it's not even sunny?"
"I can wear what I want."
"Yeah and I can ask what I want so what gives. Someone give you a black eye or something." I joked giggling.
I didn't expect him to massage his neck awkwardly and shift around. What even!
"Is that it! Did someone give you a black eye?"
"Just leave it Cher it's not your concern." He was scowling now.
"Who would be stupid enough to give you a black eye! No ones that suicidal!"
He growled at me to leave it but that made me curious. So I ignored his animal growls and scooted over to pluck his glasses off.
He wriggled away but I cornered him and took them. Underneath his eyes was blue black and swollen.
"My god falcon what the hell happened?"
He sneered at me, "bugger off Blaire."
"Bugger off you're an absolute retard did you even treat this! Of course bloody not! Come on you're coming with me."
I grabbed his wrist and towed him out of the diner and into the convenience store next door. Plucking up rubbing alcohol some swabs and a bit of ice I payed and by payed I mean tried the geek tod basically manhandled me and pulled out the money.
Grumbling I led him to the car and made him sit on the hood. Once he was an acceptable height for me to reach I began swabbing the area with the alcohol.
He winced every now and then but otherwise took it like a champ. When I was done I somehow ended up in between his long legs holding a makeshift ice pack to his eye.
He didn't make any sarcastic comments but allowed me to sort him out and absently toyed with the ends of my hair.
"What happened anyway?"
"Ugh... You're not going to leave well enough alone until you know aren't you?"
"You know me so well,"
He smirked, "I tried to delay Caden and it bloody worked too... until the tossed sucker punched me."
"At least tell me you got some good licks in first."
He grinned at me and I smiled lightly, "of course. Broke his nose and his balls."
I was tempted to say that's my boy but resisted and mentally slapped myself. Instead I grinned.
He looked like he was about to say something when his phone rang. Suddenly everything was back to normal and I couldn't fathom why I was standing so close to him.
We drew away awkwardly.
"Get in the car I'll be there in a bit."
With that he answered and turned back into rude terrifying Falcon so I hopped in and tried desperately to make sense of the hail storm in my mind.
