"You're crazy!" Arcadian exclaimed while he ran after Jack moving quickly down the street, "You want to challenge Bruno?"

"You make it sound like I'm asking to start a war," The lycan twin replied while turning the corner and gazing at the open market. Jack had to challenge Bruno once and for all. He had to do this for himself, to prove that he was stronger than the acting alpha.

"That's because you are!" His supposed best friend retorted, "Look, I know Bruno can be harsh-"

"Woah, woah, woah." Jack stopped Arcadian in mid-sentence. The werewolf was acting as if he knew the alpha personally, but the matter of the fact was he didn't. "Bruno just hasn't been harsh; there's more to it than you think. I'm tired of being pushed around, aren't you?"

"Bruno's the reason we have a home now, Jack," Arcadian explained, a softness to his tone.

"No, Kenya's the reason we're here, not him," The lycan corrected the werewolf.

"But Bruno could've easily told her no. Before we weren't allowed on the pack lands, and now we are. It's partially his doing that we're here and you're acting so ungrateful."

"If I remember correctly, Kenya spoke to Anthony on our behalf, not Bruno."

"Oh who cares, Jack? Anthony's dead!"

"I do! Why are you so willing to follow him? He's unreasonable and he treats us like crap, like we're still mutts."

"And you think any other faction leaders are better? Just look at that Patrick douchebag. He can't control a faction even if he wanted to. And what about that bitch, Lily? She's too liberal and peace-seeking to be a leader. At least Bruno knows how to run a pack and knows how to differentiate between enemies and allies."

"Patrick is trying, and Lily is doing way better with her coven than Bruno is with his pack. He's a fucking dictator, and compared to him, Patrick and Lily are doing a thousand times than he is. So what do you have against them?" Arcadian heaved a sigh and shrugged his shoulders, failing to find a decent argument. There was no winning this battle with Jack. "I thought so. I'm challenging Bruno, Arcadian, and there's no stopping me. And you want to know why? Because I don't care anymore. I have nothing to lose."

"Nothing to lose?" Arcadian repeated, "What about your sister? What about us? We're your family, Jack."

"You haven't been acting like it lately and neither has Kenya. If I lose, at least I'll be moving away with the vampires," Jack dared to say, "Because if Bruno wins, they're leaving too. Same with Rachael. Bruno will finally have control over this whole damn city and you know what? I hope you, Kellen, Kilian, Lexi, and Anna are happy, because he's going to be nothing like me. He won't care about you, he won't worry about you. He won't even probably know you live here! Under him, you'll just be a number. So if you want to be a number, Arcadian, be my guest. But I refuse to be just a number." And with that, the lycan twin continued his journey down the street, quicker than before.
