Brendon and Rachael, both much younger then - just shy of being adults - were sitting in their little hiding place, the teenage witch smiling at the slightly older boy as he was showing her the new spell that he had just learned.
"Watch me," The boy demanded, making a small flower grow from the empty space in the ground.
The witch smiled and plucked the flower from its growing place, looking at it for a while before crushing it in her hands and closing her eyes, muttering a few words under her breath before opening her eyes and unclasping her hands. In her palms, instead of a flower, was a butterfly, who fluttered its wings a little before taking flight, flying high into the trees that hung above the pair.
"Show off," The wizard mumbled, getting a giggle out of the girl.
"Show me another one," Rachael insisted playfully, shifting her position on the grassy plot of land the two had claimed as their own so that she was closer to him. The two paranormals were already showing signs of affection towards one another, but were too afraid and nervous to act upon them.
"Fine. Give me your hands," Brendon ordered, holding his hands out for her. The witch smirked before hesitantly placing her hands in his, the two pairs of hands fitting together perfectly. The wizard wracked his mind for a spell that would impress the girl sitting in front of him and make it seem like he had a purpose for holding her hands, rather than just for the sake of having physical contact with her. He lit up when he got an idea and met her gaze, a mischievous grin appearing on his face. "Are you scared of heights?"
"I'm not scared of anything," She replied haughtily.
"Good," He retorted before tilting his head down and putting all of his concentration towards pulling the two of them off of the earth. It took a few seconds before the two of them lifted up from the ground, their legs straightening out the higher the two ascended. "Don't let go," The boy told the girl as they passed branches. On the way up, they almost collided into a piece of wood; Rachael gasped and pushed the two of them forward through the air while holding on to Brendon. The wizard smiled at her actions and wished they could stay there forever. "I thought you weren't afraid."
"Well when you almost kill me, I can't help it."
The sorcerer rolled his eyes as they ended up floating above the treetops. From where the two were, they could see their entire coven and the neighboring villages. It amazed the pair of paranormals at how small the world looked from this distance, but at the same time, how vast it appeared to be. The sun was beginning to set, people were traveling on the carved out roads, and the voices of men and women could be heard.
"Wow," Rachael murmured, stunned by the view. She tugged at the wizard's hands, wanting to get a closer look at the scene, when he pulled her back.
"Whoa there, I thought I told you not to let go," He scorned her cheekily, laughing a bit.
"I'm sorry," The young witch apologized, a blush creeping up in her cheeks, "It's just...I've never seen things like this, so...so clear."
"It's impressive, isn't it?" Her friend asked, not referring to the view. No, instead he was referring to the amazed expression marking her face. He was falling in love with it, in love with her.
"Very," was all she said, her eyes locked on the surroundings beneath their feet. A silence fell over the two, allowing the wizard's mind to wander. He wondered what it would be like to kiss the cheerful witch. Maybe he should kiss her. No, not now, not until they're on the ground.
