I can't do this...
Jack had no idea what he was getting himself into as he stood there in the middle of a trailer park with the entire pack crowding around Bruno and him.
I'm gonna die. He's going to kill me.
Bruno was standing across from the lycan, glaring at him through the blazing fire. Wolves from all over the bayou were cheering and screaming like wild animals. The entire time Jack was standing and waiting for the fight to begin, he was doubting myself. But this was normal for him, to second guess and crack down on himself. If he messed up just once, one wrong punch, move, or swing could get him killed or cause him to lose. Everyone in the crowd was against the rogue, chanting Bruno's name as he took off his shirt prepared to fight. Jack mirrored his actions, but with an uncertain expression on his face. As he brought the article of clothing over his head, his back began to ache.
Great I'm already hurt, and the fight hasn't even started. Yep I'm gonna die.
Elders from the pack appeared out of the large ambush of wolves hollering like ghastly souls fleeing hell. People lowered their voices to allow the elderly men and women make their way to the center of the makeshift fighting ring.
One man stepped forward and looked around, clearing his throat before announcing, "Tonight we're gathered as a pack to witness a challenge between two worthy opponents." He looked at the current alpha of this pack and Jack. "This fight determines if we join forces with the other three factions..." The crowd booed just as the words came out his mouth. "...or if we stand alone and fight against this demon plaguing and killing our town."
"WAIT!" Someone shouted. Jack glanced back and saw Pete standing at the entrance to the park. Part of the werewolf wanted to smile to see his friend there, but judging from the angry faces, it wasn't the time show any positive emotion. "You can't go through with this."
At that moment, Jack honestly believed that Pete was his savior, and that maybe by the vampire's intervention, he wouldn't have to fight. "Pete-" The werewolf tried to talk to him, but was off by Bruno.
"This isn't any of your concern, bloodsucker," He snarled.
"Seriously, man, I don't have time for your bullshit," The vampire Jack had befriended shot back while approaching the werewolf and whispering to him, "Jack, you have to call this fight off. You seriously can't go through with this. It's crazy."
"What's crazy is that you're still here and think you can stop this fight," Bruno replied, "If he forfeits, then you, your friends, and this idiot have to leave."
Idiot? Jack thought, Idiot. He thought of me as an idiot. Nothing better than some simple minded mutt. The comment lit a fire in Jack so strong he felt his entire body warm up. Two minutes prior, he was ready to give up, flee, lose. Now he was ready; this was the final push, the last fucking straw.
"Do ever shut up?" Pete snapped at Bruno, "I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Jack." He returned his attention to Kenya's brother and grabbed his upper arms tightly. "I'm serious, Jack, it's not safe for you to do this. Please, please reconsider. You're going to get hurt, or hurt someone else."
"You should stand over there," Jack suggested to Pete while cracking his knuckles.
"No, Jack, stop! You can't fight Bruno! It's not going to end well, for anyone!" The bassist cried, trying to get his message across to him.
"I don't care," Jack stated while shoving Pete out of his way and running for Bruno, punching him square in the jaw. His head turned sharply, but he quickly flashed his head Jack's way.
