Lynn had a nice smile.
Kenya didn't know what caused her moment of happiness so she just kept talking. "This may have to do with the whole I'm a hybrid theory she has." The brunette's smile dropped at those words.
What did I say? The she wolf thought. This was so confusing, nothing Kenya could ever say to the girl would make her open up, let alone comfortable. Lynn was practically done preparing her dinner, cleaning up, all while remaining silent.
Maybe she was still embarrassed from being seen, or maybe she wasn't ashamed at all. Lynn was finished, grabbing her plate and a beer from the fridge and walking into her living room, turning on the television.
Fuck, why was this girl so frustrating? Why did she give Lynn the time of day? Why the hell is she still here?
Kenya shouldn't care; she should have called a towing company and asked them to bring her car to a garage so they could fix it. Then she'd be out of here already. But no, she decided to play around with the vehicle all day. Why? Why did she purposely stay in this godawful town? There was nothing and no one there in Archer City.
That is, except for Lynn.
Damn this human, she should be home, saving her city. But she was here. Kenya glanced down at Sammy who coincidentally was staring right back at the she wolf. He gave her a look that gave her a the idea of how to solve every question stirring in the lycan's head. From there, he stood and disappeared somewhere in the house. Kenya knew this may not go well, nor did she think it was a good idea, but she had to know. She had to know what Lynn meant to her, why she was so distant, and why priorities Kenya had didn't matter anymore.
The hybrid pushed off the counter she'd been leaning on and took slow steps into the living room, where Lynn was calmly watching a movie. Kenya wanted to turn around, for once she wanted to run away. How did this girl strike unknown and uncontrolled emotions into the lycan's heart? Kenya reached down on the coffee table, taking the remote in her hands, and clicked the television off. Lynn protested while sitting up on the couch, but Kenya didn't care. The she wolf knelt down on the floor in front of the human, pulled the plate out of the human's hand, and placed it it on the table.
Lynn didn't understand what was going on, but she knew something was different by the way Kenya never broke eye contact. "What the fuck do you-" Kenya reached out, grabbing Lynn's face, and connected their lips together. Suddenly, everything from five years ago came back to the two. Kenya felt the joy, the warm feelings that had been lost to her, but she also experienced the hurt and the pain she caused Lynn. They were in love once and Kenya saw the year they spent together come back to her in full. That's when the she wolf released the human.
Lynn refused to open her eyes; she couldn't believe that this was occurring. If this was some sick dream she projected in her mind, then maybe Brian was right. Kenya didn't love her, she didn't remember her, and she didn't want her. Lynn moved her head into the crook of the lycan's neck, and to the huntress's surprise, Kenya brought her arm up and held the girl closer.
"I'm so sorry for leaving you, Princess," The she wolf muttered. The brunette let a relaxed breath escape her lips, and the two stayed there for just a moment.
"You remember," Lynn responded with a broken tone to her voice.
"I do." Kenya soothingly rubbed the human's back. "I shouldn't have left you behind," The she wolf admitted, "And I won't ever again."
"Brian was afraid that this would happen." Lynn laughed and Kenya did the same.
"I don't care about what Brian said," The she wolf replied, "He never liked seeing us together."
"He's just being protective," Lynn tried to defend her partner.
"He's an ass." Kenya deadpanned while smiling and grabbing one of Lynn's hands and entangling it with her's. "What now?"
"Confession time, I guess." The human stood, bringing the lycan twin with her, and the two walked out to the garage. Lynn went over to an old tool box and pulled out a spark plug, one that was meant for a car like Stella. "Your friend did ask me to stop you from going back to New Orleans, so I switched this one out for an old one."
Kenya took the small part from the girl. "Of course." The lycan twin walked over to her car and pulled out the old and abused spark plug and placed the new one in. "Well at least we can get New Orleans in enough time."
The huntress rubbed the back of her neck out of nervousness. "Do we have to go back there? I mean, don't you think Brian, and Rachael, and the rest of your friends have this under control?" Kenya came from under the hood of her car to see Lynn biting her lip, a nervous habit. "Maybe we could stay here for a while, or leave Archer City and just go somewhere else." Lynn knew that if they went back to Louisiana, then this - whatever the two could have - would be over before it could start again. "I mean, think about it. This could be our chance to start over and-"
"Lynn," The she wolf stated while dropping her tools and the part and walked over to her, "You have to believe me when I say that I want to start over." The human gently closed her eyes, disappointment washing over her. Kenya could feel the sadness growing. "I made you a promise. I left you behind once, and I'm never going to leave you ever again. But I also made a promise to my pack in New Orleans hundreds of years ago." Duty was Kenya's main priority. It was her moral compass, and at the same time, it was her downfall. "I have to end this thing with this demon, save my town, and wrap up a few loose ends." By loose ends, she meant Bruno. Lynn didn't exactly know about Bruno, however, the human wasn't exactly clueless either. "I know you've been snooping, so I'm not going to lie. I found my mate; he's the Alpha of our pack."
"Kenya, I-"
"Listen," The wolf interrupted the brunette, reaching out and pulling the huntress into her arms, "I thought I loved Bruno, and I guess I still have feelings. But after all the lies and the shit he and I have been through, I know I have to end things with him," Kenya confessed, "All I'm asking is for time to end things the right way. No lies. No secrets. I can't live with them anymore."
The girl stared at her for a little bit before slowly nodding her head in agreement. Kenya smirked before leaning in and placing a quick, gentle kiss on Lynn's lip. She slowly untangled her arms from around her and took a step back, looking towards the door. She heaved a sigh, not wanting to leave but knowing she had to. The she wolf could sense the uneasiness in the huntress about the small truth shared, but the lycan was done with all the secrecy and the dishonesty. She remembered the past with Lynn and she knew it was partly based on lies. She wanted something different, she wanted the huntress. So she knew what she had to do and she knew where she had to go.
Home.
