You found yourself running once more as you sort of blocked everything out, and let Jade do the running for now, as she had been requesting for a few minutes now, much to Tourmaline's annoyance.
You utter dolt! Don't go there....more to the left! The other left!
Did i ask for your opinion bucko?! Jade replied back in a fit of annoyance, causing the argument to spiral downwards.
Just kiss already.... grumbled Azurite, causing the two to immediately shut up, before protesting that they would never, ever do such a vile thing.
At the moment that you were at your utmost limit and probably ready to rip that gem out by yourself just to get rid of them, a loud howl was heard from further down the woods. Even worse is that that howl got a reply. A reply coming from much closer then you would like. Soon, you were surrounded by wolves, all growling and clearly wanting a taste of you.
Human? Are these the "puppies" the internet adores so? Jade asked,
I believe the internet prefers cats....
WHO CARES?! THEY WANT TO EAT US! Said a panicky Tourmaline who slammed the first wolf to jump at you into the ground.
The other two quickly focus on the fight as your weapon is drawn from your gem! You mainly use the mace part of your weapon to keep them busy or knock them out, not knowing of they were endangered or not. (There's only one of us! We're far more endangered god dammit!) but as expected, you managed to hold them off fine. Until a howl, far louder and more distorted sounded from nearby. Wolves flew everywhere as your new enemy rushed at you.....only for you to sidestep so he crashed into a tree.
You managed to snuck a glance at the creature, and soon realised it was another on of the crazy Peridots experiments! It was clearly once human, but thanks to its long muzzle, claws, teeth, fur and black gem on its head it was now something far different. You did notice this one was a lot more refined then the previous monsters you faced. Hell, it could even be seen as a rather impressive and natural creature, if it didnt have a stone the size of your thumb stuck in its forehead.
Human, is this what you call a "furry?" Jade asked before being shut up by the other two.
Immediately, you get into a more comfortable position as the creature stood back up, showing its impressive teeth to you before jumping at you insanely quick. You barely managed to dodge again before it jumped on your back, suddenly much more agile, as you could feel sharp fangs tugging at your spinal cord. Suddenly, your training with Stevonnie earlier jumps to mind as your body instinctively fell back to try and crush the beast.
Sadly, it was strong enough to keep you up long enough to roll out from under you. You seemed to have made it more tired though, as you could see it pant loudly and shake a bit. The monster decided it would be the best if it retreated for now, running between the trees.
After it! Azurite ordered.
Why?! Do you want to fight? Tourmaline responded, clearly confused as all hell.
Let me put it in a way that even you can understand....we can follow that creature to the city. She said, extremely annoyed by her fellow gems being so obnoxious the entire trip.
You decided to tune them out for now, getting pretty sick of them as well as you traced the pawprints left behind by the monster. Pretty soon you managed to find a long, dark cave where the prints lead to.
Ah! A shortcut! Jade said happily.
Come on! This is obviously a trap! Why does no one ever listen when I say that?! Tourmaline said angrily.
Everyone ignored her and you went inside anyways. The cave seemed to be extremely old, even having prehistoric carvings in it, Wich excited Jade like no other. You were so busy trying to calm her down, you didn't even notice the wolf monster creeping down from the ceiling and jumping you. Luckily, Tourmaline did though, so you could feel your body throwing itself back as you grabbed the creature by the throat.
And so, you stood there, creature slightly choking in your hand was you wondered what the heck you should do with it.
Lets just poof it and be done with it...
But...isn't this creature mostly human? It would die!
Ehm....we could....Ehm...I don't know!
As they all started mindlessly bickering you decided to not have blood on your hands and thus went out to find a place to contain it. Luckily, the cave seemed to have a few alcoves so you decided to grab a fee pretty large stalactite, throw the wolf in one of the small side-parts of the cave and drilled the stalactites into the ground, using them as prison bars.
But....what are we supposed to do after we are finished here? Let it starve?
As you pondered what to do, another voice welled up from within you.
'....take the gem.....fuse.....get stronger! Who cares about the human part?! Get the gem!' the voice got louder and louder, sounding more and more like Jasper each time it rung trough your head. You could feel yourself falling on your back, shaking to get rid of the now screaming Jasper. Lucky for you, it dissapeared after a while.
You stood up, holding your head as you prepared to walk further into the cave, sort of scared. You could feel Jasper slowly growing stronger once more, and all four of you were afraid what would happen if she got the upper hand....
L-lets deal with this later....we have another task at hand... Jade tried to bring everyone out of their slump, but it was clear no one would be forgetting about this any time soon, as you moved closer to your destination.
