(interviewed by Hodgins, Friday night, way home)
"So, you had a nice night?"
"It was a quite surprising and special one. I'm not sure, if 'nice' is the best describing adjective."
"Why not? You solved the case. And you spent more than an hour alone with the girl that made you freeze several times. And made you sing in a bar. And turns your head into a tomato."
"You see, there are too much open questions for me, to say it was 'nice'. Too much, like every question which has nothing to do with the case."
"So, maybe I can help you. What questions?"
"First: Why did she kiss me?"
"She did what?"
"She came to the Jeffersonian with me. Because she promised you, to take care of me. Then, before I went in, she gave me a chewing gum. Then she kissed my cheek, like Angela does sometimes, but not the exact same way. She said I'd known where to find her. Then she went away."
"Wow."
"Wow?"
"And you don't think it was a nice night? You know, that actually sounds better then nice?"
"You think?"
"Of course, Zack! This girl likes you."
"You sound surprised."
"No, Zack. I'm happy for you. Okay, right, totally surprised, but so are you, right?"
"Right. Didn't you want to help me?"
"The answer to your question is: because she likes you."
"That's what I thought. Following Angela's explanations about 'signs', it means she likes me. According to all my calculations, which include all of my experiences and statistical facts, that's almost impossible."
"That a girl likes you?"
"The girl. Angela always told me, sometimes 'the girl for me' will come."
"And you calculated how likely that was about to happen?"
"Right. And this situation, the first time I get to know someone outside the lab... I was sure, the chance would rise with the passing time... I thought it was impossible."
The first time he thinks he understands what "having butterflies in the stomach" means.
"You mean, more possible to find someone with 30, than with 23?"
"Exactly. It's more likely, that a thirty-year-old woman falls in love with me then, than now someone my age"
"So, you're confused and you think you already fell in love with her?"
"I need to think about everything. So, yes. Confused. And doesn't what happened to me match what happens to people, when they fall in love?"
"You're probably right. But I wouldn't call it love by now. You just should be happy for now, man."
No answer. He needs to think. Because somehow nothing seemed to be predictable. It was like driving. Endless possibilities are too much to narrow them down. With nothing to know about what could happen, there was nothing to narrow it down. And he knows less about feelings, than he thought.
He would need to talk to Angela.
