Upon entrance of Castle Town, the settlers there bowed to the twin horses; white and brown that trotted down the dirt road to the castle entrance. The square bustled with busy souls careying bags and other miscellaneous items. One toddler girl ran in front of Zelda's horse, which made the princess pull back in fright. The mother, who looked to be ashen with poverty, merely looked at Zelda with remorse.
The duo continued on to the newly rebuilt castle, and waited for the knights to open the gates. Once they did, the princess and her hero trotted along to her chambers.
"So, we wait for the four to arrive now," determined Zelda, crounching on the floor trying to uncover a book from her desk.
Link then stumbled upon her diary, open with words spilling out on the page. One word he saw said love but Zelda closed the book quick, abandoning her search for whatever book she wished to uncover. "What are you looking at?" she snapped, grabbing the book and sheathing it in her desk. "You didn't read anything did you?"
An accusing finger met Link's chest, but he just laughed nervously. "Nope. Not a word."
Her finger descended back to her hips. "As princess I demand you not read my diary!"
Something was serious in that diary, somethig that invoked a yelling at Link. "I swear, upon thy honor I will never peek again."
"So you did see something, did you not?" cried Zelda, making Link blush with nervousness. "What did you see!"
Link stood silent. Not once in over a hundred years had he seen Zelda so angered. "I saw one word. It was love."
Zelda blushed, silent despite the flickering wind and sound of crackling flames by the hearth. That paragraph, she thought. "Ugh Link! It was not about you!" She pushed Link playfully, but not so playfully. "Don't be so stupid!"
Link now felt angered, but at himself. He had done something wrong, had he not? "Zelda," he murmured, sending a bolt of energy into the silent princess, who stood like the very flower she loved, wrapped neatly in the soil by the balcony. "I do not care." This angered Zelda, her fists clenched.
Zelda sighed. "Go away!" She jumped onto her bed and then at the sound of the door calmly pulled shut behind Link, her face curled up to release tears.
Salty tears streamed down her cheeks into her mouth. She was so angry she couldn't confess to him all those peaceful ten years, and now some evil had decided to infiltrate Hyrule once again, destroying her chances of finally telling Link how she felt. That vacation, she was so mad, so now she ruined everything. She felt that now she'd never have that chance, for she hoped this evil would not take the ones she loved again.
Tears wet the pillow, and her sobs resonated beyond her closed door, down the hall, and around the corner where Link sit, contemplating the current situation. Ten short years he never told Zelda, and now his love would have to wait as again defending Hyrule came first. The Yiga Clan had returned with a vengeance, and soon he would have to face another evil instead of loving Zelda.
All he knew was that Zelda couldnt possibly love him. They were such good friends, he didnt want to ruin it, yet at the same time he wanted to take this chance.
Yes, the new threat will get in the way of his confession, but he would be patient and save Zelda. Protect Hyrule. Return victorious, and finally reap the kiss he deserved so.
Zelda, in sync, felt what he felt. He was everything she ever wanted and more.
But the Champions would soon arrive.
One hour later, Zelda had dressed in her regal attire, and Link his champion tunic. Together they trotted down to the Sacred Grounds to meet the new Champions.
Yunobo arrived first, wearing the Goron champion's outfit, and once a keese came down covered himself in Daruk's signature barrier. Link laughed at this, and Zelda just sighed. Next came Teba, arriving with a blast of wind from Revali's Gale. After him came the one and only, the Zora prince himself...
"SIDON IS IN THE HOUSE!" purred Sidon, laughing arrogantly. "Oh look, here are the other teo Champions, but what about Riju?"
Zelda noticed this too. "I am not sure. But maybe this is connected..."
Link looked around but Makeela Riju was not to be seen.
"Oh its okay," exclaimed Sidon, showing his pearls with a grin. "Feast your eyes, Sidon is here!"
