Abby and I wave to Phe as she walks off, and Abby skips away from the doorway and back into the living room. I shut the front door and frown, turning and pressing my back against the door and I watch Abby warily. "What was that?"

She picks up the supplies on the floor and starts setting the supplies back into the tubs. "What was what?" Abby asks.

"You talked about him again. You know you're not supposed to talk about him. Mother will get mad..."

Abby drags the recycling bin into the room and onto the carpet, then she starts picking up scraps of cut-up paper that we didn't use on the poster board. "Talk about who?" She asks as she looks at me.

"Grandfather, you idiot. You know we're not supposed to talk about Grandfather."

She looks down into one of the tubs, then sighs as she puts the lid on it and clicking it into place, scowling. "Well, I'm sorry. He's just a nice person, I-"

"NO!" I shout, and Abby flinches. "He is a terrible person and you know it. He's only nice to us because we're his granddaughters! And you...you're-"

"Shut up Cas!" She shouts back at me, but I don't flinch as she did. "I know what I am! It doesn't mean I'm proud of the whole goddamn situation..." She slams the lid onto the second tub and stacks one on top of the other. "Sure I like being able to do what I'm able to do but I'm not proud that the person who I inherited it from is a psychopath!"

"You're a psychopath..." I mumble.

"I KNOW!" Abby shouts as she walks off down the hallway to her room. "That's what I'm saying," she calls over her shoulder and I quickly follow her.

The warmly-lit hallway has five doors that lead off into different rooms. One leading off into Abby's room, one leading to my room, a bathroom, and a couple of guest rooms, one initially being the master bedroom. Since there isn't really a head-of-household in our two-person family, we both decided that it was probably best if we didn't use the master bedroom at all, except as a guest room. No one hardly comes here anyway, so usually, the rooms remain empty and clean. The final door leads to the basement, where Abby keeps her workout equipment, as well as there being two empty storage rooms.

Abby walks into her lavender-colored room and sets the tubs down on the floor. She takes one of them and slides it under the bed, and then she does the same with the second tub. "Why are you so uptight about that anyway? It's not like Phe will know who we're talking about..."

"Does it matter?! You can't talk so openly about our family like that. Didn't you see her hair?"

She grins and hops up onto her purple and white bed, looking at me with bright eyes, all signs of her being upset at all are gone. "Yeah! Her hair was pretty! I haven't seen that color of hair on anyone before!"

I sigh. "Abby. She had white hair...Please tell me you understand what that means."

Abby tilts her head to the side. "Because...she's albino?"

"God you're an idiot...of course she's not albino."

"Well, what then? You're so confident in what she is, why don't you just tell me?!" Abby retorts.

"Because maybe I want you to figure it out yourself," I say as I walk out of the room. I walk back down the hall, through the living room, and through an open doorway, into the house library. It wasn't very big, but most of the books in this room are mine. I read all kinds of books to pass the time, and I've almost read every book on these shelves. I start looking, and after a few moments, I pull out a book and walk back to Abby's room. I toss her the book and she catches it with wide eyes. "Read," I say flatly. "Maybe you'll actually learn something and understand why we'll have to be extra careful around her..."
