The Gym (Short)

This idea was given to me (Sky) by a good friend of mine, @Pixeltwix . She's been trying to draw our characters and I'm trying to get her started on a comic that will hopefully...eventually...come to Webtoon....

Isn't that right, Twix?.... -___- Riiiiiiiiight?

Anyway, without further ado, welcome to The Unexplained Gym!

Once again, Unexplained Shorts have nothing to do with the plot! It's just for fun! :)

Austin raises an eyebrow at Jack as he sets down a forty pound dumbbell back onto it's rack. "You want to gain muscle?"

Jack rubs his bare lean arms, blushing with embarrassment as he nods.

"Why?" Austin asks as he stands, his bare chest taught from his workout.

"Because!" Jack stammers and he laughs nervously. "W-Well you see...I just kinda...heh..." He glances at Abby, who is in the corner of the gym, violently slamming her fists into a punching bag.

The vampire turns his head to see this and raises his eyebrow at Jack once more. "You want to impress Abby?"

Jack only nods again, smiling goofily.

Austin sighs and crosses his arms. "I guess I can give you a workout routine...but you'd have to stick to it."

Today, the whole group of friends is at the gym together. It's a nice gym, with lots of equipment, and even a yoga room. That's where Cas dragged Phe off to, saying that Phe could use the tension-relieving benefits that yoga has to offer. Abby needs to vent all the anger and irritation she's built up since the last visit, so she is spending time with the boxing instructors and by the punching bags. Conner is off doing whatever he does to stay fit, so Jack is stuck getting guidance from Austin since the sweet little elf doesn't do this very often and seeks help. Plus, Austin is the most muscular one there, so he's the perfect coach for Jack! Right?

Right.

The individual of each person's body type and muscle build is as follows:
-Abby: Slim hourglass, swimmer's build with strong arms and shoulders, along with strong thighs and core muscles.
-Cas: Curvy hourglass. Hardly any body fat, mostly thigh and shoulder muscle from holding challenging yoga poses.
-Phe: Triangle. Thin and lean, but you can definitely tell that there's muscle there. More muscle is visible in her legs compared to anywhere else.
-Jack: Lean muscle. Has a soccer build to his body. Cardio is more his thing.
-Conner: Bulkier than Jack, but still lean, like a swimmer's build or a baseball build. He lifts weights once in a while but mostly works on his core and abs.
-Austin: has the premium membership. Lifts weights often, and is built like a football player. He lifted weights very often because it's what he did to escape boredom in Facility 9.

(Quick A/N, Nyx: there's a reason all of them have these body types. Abby's already been mentioned in the book that she swims. Just now you find out Cas does yoga. Phe is thin and lean from running a lot, from bullies, authorities, etc. She has muscle there however because she did do weights for her legs.

I know it seems like the guys are all super strong and hot in some way, but to be honest, they all have their reasons from different backgrounds, Conner's you haven't really learned yet.

Jack is like, the exception to everything I just said XD

But I wanted to clear up any thoughts that they're the cliche male characters that are handsome and strong)

These days, Austin is a little worried about himself. He doesn't seem to get enough valuable time with weights. He is concerned about the muscle he has built up. What if it goes away?

Nah.
It's okay Austin.
You'll be fine. You have plenty of abs and biceps to spare.

Jack nods to what Austin says to him before he purses his lips. "Hey Austin, do you think I should do a little more cardio, too?" He takes a bit of his stomach in his fingertips and looks down at it since he is shirtless as well (all the guys are, cause why not?). "I feel like I have some pudge to get rid of..."

Austin rolls his eyes as he picks up two twenty pound dumbbells. "That is literally just skin, Jack. I don't think you're able to lose anything else," he says as he holds the weights out to Jack.

The elf prince takes them and lets his hands, holding the dumbbells, fall to his side. "What are these for?"

"I want you to do some squats with those. Every time you squat down, curl your biceps, and relax as you come back up," Austin says, pondering on what else he wants Jack to do. "Then...I suppose you can do some push-ups and arm lifts with the weights. One rep would be a push-up, then lift up the right hand with the weight, then the left hand. Twenty reps of each for now...three sets...and we'll see how you're doing when you finish that..."

"What?!!" Jack exclaims and looks as if he is regretting his decision. "Twenty pounds on each ARM?!"

"Is that a problem?" Austin asks him, tilting his head to the side.

Jack sighs and hangs his head in defeat. "No..."

The vampire boy only smirks at him. "Good."

Suddenly, Abby skips over to them, panting. "I think all my anger is gone...for now. I guess we can only find out if it's gone or not."

Jack's eyes light up and he immediately goes into his squats before Abby can even reach them. "...18...19...20!..." He fakes an exhausted sigh and sets down the weights. "Look Abby! Austin is giving me some exercises to do with him!"

"With me?..." Austin raises an eyebrow.

Abby grins. "Really? That's awesome!" She picks up both of the twenty pounders in one hand. "Have you tried it with thirty-five pounders yet?"

Jack's expression goes a little more frantic, clearly getting a little nervous. "W-What?"

Abby nods. "I'm sure you're capable of it, yeah?" Her grin captures Jack into a trance, and he doesn't realize he's nodding. Once he catches himself, it's too late, and Abby continues. "That's great! Maybe I'll work out with you at some point, too!"

Jack smiles nervously and rubs the back of his neck. "Yeah! Okay!"

Setting down the twenty-pound weights, Abby sighs. "Well, I'm going to go join Cas and Phe. Might as well try yoga again and see if I still hate it. See you around, you two."

Jack stares at Abby as she walks off. Once he knows she's gone, panic seeps into his eyes as he picks up the twenty-pound weights again. "Oh, nooooOOOOO...what do I do?! I can barely lift up twenty with each arm, let alone thirty-five!!"

Austin sighs. "Yeah, you're going to need to work extra hard if you want to catch up to her, man..."

Jack drops the weights, then drops to his knees in front of Austin. "TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!"

"I will...but there'll be rules. First of all, get up. You're being weird."

Jack immediately scampers to his feet. "Yes, sir!"

"Two, don't call me sir."

"Sorry..."

"Three, I'm going to be harsh on you, Jack. I used to train wimps to be soldiers in combat. I'm serious about weightlifting and if I ever catch you slacking, I wouldn't mind letting you embarrass yourself in front of Abby..."

"Heh heh heh," Jack laughs nervously before his face falls. "Oh..."

Austin gives him a small smile. "And now, you will give me four sets with thirty reps in each of the exercises I gave you earlier."

Jack groans in protest. "Seriously?! More?!" Austin gives the elf prince a deadly look and Jack immediately goes into the squats again. "Heh! On another note, I have a date with Abby!"

Austin picks up his forty-pound weight again and sits down on the bench as he curls his bicep. "You call a workout together a date."

"Nope!" Jack sing-songs. He's only 8 squats into his reps and he's already starting to breathe harder. "But I'll take what I can get!"

Austin only chuckles in response.
