I sat on the edge of the sofa with my head hung low, eyes staring at my bare feet. My tears have dried but still, my heart is aching. I fumbled with my hands as I hear my father's frustrated breaths. My mother tried to meddle but my dad told her we have to talk. I prayed silently, hoping that he won't make me leave Daniel. But I know deep inside, he'll do everything to make me stop this thing. And my heart aches just by thinking about it.

"Saeron," My father called out but I didn't spare him a glance. "Saeron!" My head snapped just when his voice roared from the living room. "Did you understand what I just said?" He narrowed his eyes at me, those icy stares I really hate. A tear slipped from my eyes before I looked down. I shook my head, trying to shake the tears streaming down my face.

I heard him curse under his breath. "Why won't you listen to me?!" He shouted in frustration.

No, why won't you listen to me?

He inhaled sharply. "You will stay away from that boy whether you like it or not." He said through gritted teeth. I looked back at him, before standing up. "No, dad. Don't you see? I love-"

"Don't you spit those words in front of me!" It made me flinch. The way he said those words with utter coldness. "What do you know about love? You're still young, you don't know anything about love, Saeron!"

"And you do?" He was taken aback by my question. "Do you know anything about love? Do you know anything other than loving your precious company?" I spitted the words with bitterness, the hatred I've been keeping from myself.

"Do you know anything about love when you couldn't even love your own daughter? Couldn't even give me attention the way you give attention to your company-"

"That's not true, Saeron! You know I care about you as much as I care about our business." I hated the way he said 'our'. It's his, not mine. It's what he love and it's what I hate. "This business is for you. I created this company to give you everything. To make you happy, give you everything you need."

"No, dad. It's not for me. It's for yourself! You think your business made me happy even once? No. You don't know what I need, dad! What I need is my father, his love and support, not that damned company!" Tears flowed from my eyes, I couldn't take it. He keeps pushing me to those things I don't even want. And when I finally love something- someone, he won't even support me.

Something flashed through his eyes as I look at him. Love, pain, regret and disappointment. But then it all washed out in just a flick of a finger. He's back again as the cold father I used to know. "Mind your language, young lady," He said through gritted teeth. "We'll never have this kind of life if it weren't for this company!"

"That's exactly what I hate, this kind of life dad!" I sobbed, I couldn't hold it anymore. "Why can't you give any attention to me just like a normal father? Why can't you just support me with what I want?" My voice shook as I try to speak those words. I want his love, his support and not any material thing his company's money can give.

His eyes softened a bit, or more like became tired. "I only want what's best for you, Saeron, please understand." He ran his hands through his hair. He was frustrated and so was I. I never wanted this life he gave me. I wanted his love and nothing more. I don't want his money nor the company he wanted to give me. I never asked for those, I never wanted those.

If he thinks this is what will make me happy then he's wrong. If this is how he love then I don't want his love because he doesn't know what love really is. I shook my head. "No, I will never understand. You don't know what's best for me. Controlling me like a puppet of your company isn't what's best for me. I hate living like this, I hate living as if I'm something you just control!"
