Runaway
__________
I stared at the field, my mind blank as I felt a lump in my throat. My friends already knew what happened and whenever I recall everything, it just makes me tear up. I told them everything that happened from the start. And now I'm trying to keep myself together.
"We should go, let's do something to cheer her up." I heard Gahyeon say to Hyerin. They both looked at me with concerned looks. "I can't go, dad forbid me to go anywhere but school." I averted my gaze, my heart clenching inside my chest.
That's not what's hurting me, I'm hurt because it's been days since the last time I talked and saw Daniel. "You guys go ahead, I'll just stay for a bit. I'll be heading home, the bodyguards are waiting for me anyway." They both looked at each other before sighing.
"Okay, tell us if you need anything." I nodded at them before they left. I found myself staring at the field, the people leaving and coming passed by quietly. I decided to stand up and leave to go home when my eyes caught someone. He was wearing a pink sweater, his colorful bag hung effortlessly on his shoulder.
"Jihoon!" I shouted his name, his eyes averting towards me in a matter of seconds. But the change of his expression made me confuse. I ran to him when he didn't move an inch. He just stood there, staring at me with blank expression on his face.
I bit my lip, is something wrong? "Hey," I said almost a whisper. "Saeron." He uttered, the distant sound of his voice made me uneasy.
"Do you have time, can we talk? I need to tell you something." I said. I actually have nothing to tell him but I still wanted to talk to him for a bit. "Is it important?" I saw how his jaw clenched, his eyes looking at me with cold expression.
"Wha– no, I j-just wanted to talk for a bit actually." I answered, mentally cursing myself for stuttering. "We can just talk some other time, I'm kind of busy." He said. I gulped, something's wrong, I can feel it.
"If you have nothing important to say, I will go ahead." He told me before slowly turning to his heels. "W-Wait! Jihoon! Is something wrong? Please tell me." The last sentence almost came out as a whisper. I don't know why he's suddenly acting like this.
My eyes fell from his back down to his balled fists. I looked back up at him. "Nothing's wrong, I'm just busy. I'll get going." He at last said before walking off without even sparing me a glance.
I was left still baffled by his unusual attitude. I stood there for a minute before realizing that I'm the only one left in the field. I sighed heavily before walking towards the gate. The car was waiting for me with the bodyguards and the driver. I almost rolled my eyes seeing how alert they was when they saw me.
I was about to make my way to the car when a familiar car opened. Daniel closed his car door when he got out before calling out to me. "Saeron!" His voice was filled with worry and longing as he started walking towards me.
My heart started to beat wildly inside my chest at the sight of him. It's been days! Seeing him now makes my heart hurt in anticipation. My breathing turned heavy as I stepped forward to meet him halfway but a bulky and tall guy stopped in front of me, blocking the view and stopping me from meeting Daniel.
I looked up, my eyes filled with confusion. "What– please let me through.." I pleaded as he looked at me with a frown on his face. "Your father told us not to let you get close with that guy, miss Saeron. We're taking you home." He moved as if trying to get me inside the car but I backed away from him.
