"Isa! Get up, get up!" My older brother Paulo yelled as he jumped up and down on my bed.
"Paulo, go away!" I groaned as I tried to pull the covers up higher.
Saturday mornings are meant for sleeping in but trust my brother to deprive me of that privilege.
"Its nearly twelve! You've slept enough!" He said, flopping down on my bed.
"You're going straight to hell," I cursed him.
"See you there," He laughed. "Come on. Mama's already made lunch."
Winging and whining, I got out of bed and put on a hoodie and a pair of knee height socks before making my way downstairs.
"Oh look, its awake," Ricardo said with a smirk as I sat down at the dining room table.
"I'm gonna stab you," I threatened.
"Don't be crass at the table, mija," My mom said as she walked into the room carrying a steaming dish of lasagne while my dad was carrying a bowl of steamed vegetables.
"Sorry, mama," I muttered.
"Ricardo, my sweetie, can you please go and get the juice?" Mom asked my other older brother.
"Sure, mama," He nodded before getting up and walking into the kitchen.
When lunch had been dished, we said a quick prayer before digging into the delicious food.
"I meant to ask you, Isa, how did your tutoring session on Thursday go?" Mom asked me.
"You need a tutor?" Ricardo snorted, sounding like he totally didn't believe it.
"Of course not," I scoffed. "I'm the tutor."
"So how'd it go?" Mom asked again.
"We're taking it in baby steps," I told her. "He barley understands anything but he'll get there."
"He?" Paulo asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Hmm, boy in my Portuguese class," I said.
"And you're just tutoring him?" Ricardo asked.
"She'd better be," Dad said, looking pointedly at me.
"We're not even friends," I said. "I'm just his tutor."
"Keep it that way," Dad said to me.
I couldn't help but laugh at my dad. He's way too protective of me. That's why romantic infractions are literally non-existent in my life.
After lunch my brothers and I offered to do the dishes before I headed upstairs to take a shower. But before I headed into my large en suite bathroom, my phone chimed with a text.
