"How are you feeling?" Jace asked as he sat down on the chair by my bedside.
"Not gonna lie, I've felt better before," I smiled.
"I'm so glad you're okay," He said and then kissed my hand. "I'm really sorry about our fight, Bela."
"No, I'm sorry, Jace. I was being a brat and I was going to come back and apologise but then the whole thing with Arminia happened...."
"Can we call a truce?" He asked.
"Yeah, we can," I giggled as we shook hands.
Looking at the digital clock on the wall, I saw that the date under it read 05/13/17. Shit. I missed my chance...
"How'd it go by the way?" I asked him. "At USC I mean."
"I didn't go," He said.
"What?" I screeched. "Why not?!"
"I asked coach Rutherford to cancel right after we fought. Because...you mean so much to me," He said.
"You blew off USC first string...for me?" I asked, completely baffled.
"Yeah..." He said with a sheepish smile.
"I don't know whether to scream at you for doing that or be extremely flattered that you would do something like that for me," I said with blazing cheeks.
"I'd prefer if you pick the latter," He grinned cheekily.
"I love you," I blurted out, surprising both myself and Jace.
"W-what?"
"Okay, I know that was random and unexpected but yeah, I love you. I realised it just a little while ago and I've been wanting to tell you ever since. And it's okay if you don't say it back or feel the same way right now because I know that this is crazy unexpected but -"
"I love you too, sunshine."
"-that's okay I think and I -wait, what?"
"I said I love you too," He said with a sheepish grin.
"You...love me? Like, love? As in more than like-like?" I stuttered.
"Yeah, I more than like-like you," He chuckled.
"Oh, okay. That's great," I said, struggling to control my smile. And then suddenly the heart monitor thing started beeping like crazy, making me blush even more. "Oh my gosh. You've got to be kidding me," I groaned while Jace just sat back laughing.
"Is everything okay in here?" The nurse asked as she came rushing into the room.
"Everything's great, wouldn't you say, sunshine?" Jace asked and then kissed my cheek.
"Yeah, it's all fine," I murmured as the machine wouldn't stop beeping like I was having a heart attack.
"Ah, I see," The nurse smirked and then disconnected the machine before leaving the room again.
"I love you, sunshine," Jace grinned as he sat on the bed next to me.
"And I love you, nunu," I beamed before finally kissing him.
Having not kissed him for over a week, the feeling of his lips against mine was incredible. And all I wanted to do for the rest of my life was to tell Jace Westmore that I love him.

A little while later Jace had left to get me some food when Austin, the regular MC at the Neon Lounge popped in.
