The school week went by quickly and before I knew it, it was Friday again.
"Send my love to your new lover
Treat her better
We've gotta let go of all of our ghosts
We both know we ain't kids no more
Send my love to your new lover
Treat her better
We've gotta let go of all of our ghosts
We both know we ain't kids no more
I was too strong you were trembling
You couldn't handle the hot heat rising
Baby I'm so rising
I was running, you were walking
You couldn't keep up, you were falling down
There's only one way down."I sat in my living room strumming my guitar late that afternoon singing my favourite Adele song that I was planning to cover at one of the acoustic lounges, that I often perform at, sometime next month.
I allowed my voice to soar through the house as I experimented with different tones and pitches that I felt worked with the way I wanted to sing the song.
As I finished singing, I heard the sound of applause coming from my mother.
"You're so talented, meu amor," She said as she sat down next to me and wrapped her arms around me.
"Thanks, mama," I smiled at her.
"You must call your abuela and abueno and sing for them. Its been ages since they've heard your beautiful voice," She said, referring to my grandparents on my dad's side.
"Yeah, I will," I said. "I'm gonna spend the night at Millie's, if that's okay with you and papa."
"Of course it is," She nodded. "Please tell Angelique that I'll email the cookie recipe's to her sometime this weekend."
"I will," I nodded. Millie's mom, Angelique, and my mom are like, bffs and are often baking with each other (and the rest of the squads moms as well as Javier's mom) and cooking and trading recipes and stuff.
"Are you girls going out somewhere?" She asked me. "I heard you say something about a basketball game?"
"Oh, yeah," I nodded. "Javier and his friends play on the team and they have a game tonight."
"Does the boy you're tutoring play?" She asked with a small smirk.
"Yes, mama, he does," I said with a playful eyeroll and suddenly thinking about the deal I had made with Jace.
"Hmm," She smiled.
"Mama, he's just a friend," I said to her, knowing exactly what she was thinking.
"I didn't say anything," She laughed. "I'm going to go start on dinner for your father and I. Are you going to eat before you leave?"
"Uh, nah," I shook my head. "I'm gonna fill up on macarons later."
She chuckled. "Okay, filha."
After my mom had left, I continued to work on my music.
Three hours later I pulled into Millie's driveway and parked next to her brother's pick up truck.
"Bonjour Titan famille!" I called as I walked through the front door.
"Isabela, is that you, jolie fille?" I heard Angelique's voice chirp.
"Oui, c'est moi [Yes, it's me]," I said as I walked into their familiar kitchen.
"Ah, bonjour mademoiselle," She beamed, pulling me into a tight hug and then kissing my forehead. "How are you?"
"I'm good thanks," I smiled at her. "Oh, my mama said that she'll send you the recipes soon?"
"Oh, benir Sara," She said.
