When Tuesday had come around, Jace and I were working together again but at the school library this time because he had basketball right after our session.
"Okay. I want you to highlight the adverbs, abstract nouns and proper nouns in this sentence," I said to Jace as we were an hour into our session.
"Okay..." He mumbled as he grabbed three different highlighters and began highlighting words in the sentence.
"Jace!" I squealed happily. "You got it right!"
"For real?" He asked with wide eyes.
"For real," I confirmed.
"Aw, yis baby!" He cheered.
"Mr Westmore!" Ms Collins, the librarian hissed at him. "This is a library! Keep it down!"
"Sorry, Ms Collins," He whispered.
"Alright, let's work though some more," I told him.
By the time our two hours was up, Jace had gotten a lot more sentences right that the first time we got together.
"Keep things the way they are and you'll be hitting a C on the next test," I told him.
"Woah, I don't know if we're there yet," He chuckled. "At this point I'm still thirteen points down in the last quarter."
"What?" I questioned.
"Its a basketball thing," He laughed as we walked out the library.
"Oh, obviously," I giggled.
"So uh, see you on Thursday?" He said.
"You'll see me tomorrow in class, genius," I said, teasingly sticking my tongue out at him. We have Portuguese and health together like, every day.
"Right, obviously," He chuckled.
After saying our goodbyes, we went our separate ways.
"Bonjour, belle," Millie chirped as she met me by our lockers.
"Ola, mamita," I smiled at her.
"Can I bump a ride home?" She asked me. "I came with Jess but she had to leave pronto after school and I don't feel like wasting my money on an uber."
"Of course, mi amor," I nodded.
Our group is super lazy and most mornings we bump rides off each other because we hate driving. Well not me. I don't mind driving cause that means jamming to music.
The ride to Millie's house was spent singing along to Meghan Trainor until Millie turned the radio down to make conversation.
"Are you performing at the club on Friday?" She asked me.
"Yep," I nodded.
The Neon Lounge is a music club/bar that holds open mic nights every Friday. I usually perform there. Not every Friday but most. And my friends and parents are always there to support me if they can be.
"Awesome, I'll be there," She grinned.
"Thanks, boo," I smiled at her.
After dropping Millie off, I headed home.
"Ola, família!" I called as I walked through the front door.
"Hey, baby sister!" Ricardo called.
"Ola!" Paulo called.
"Are mama and papa home?" I asked my brothers as I walked into the kitchen.
"Nope," Paulo shook his head.
