If I Could

"Oh, Daisy, that's so freaking funny", Adam laughed, leaving him gasping for air. "You already know how to make me laugh".

"I see you two are having fun", Rami stopped by at Daisy and Adam's seats, holding a glass of wine.

"Yes, I'm telling Adam about that one time when we played a prank on Mr. Clarke's secretary", Daisy giggled.

"That's a good one, we both have always been geniuses".

A new song started playing. Adam started snapping his fingers to the rhythm. It was "Back Chat", one his favourite songs.

"Oh my God, Rami, listen to that song!", Daisy's eyes widened.

"That's my future father-in-law right there", he assured, a mischevious smile being shown on his face.

"He sure is". Daisy let out an incongruous laugh.

"Rami! Come here, we're going to take pictures!", a blonde woman grabbed Rami's upper arm and pulled him.

"Wow, Daisy. Look at the expression on your face. Are you feeling alright?", Adam asked, noticing how Daisy's mood had suddenly changed after talking to Rami.

"Let's go to a quiet place", Daisy said. "There's something I need to tell you".

Adam followed Daisy, a bit concerned by what she'd tell him.

"Adam, Taylor Enterprises is such a good place to work at. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing. However, I have to deal with the craziest person working here, Catherine Taylor".

"Roger's wife? Isn't she caught up in a cheating scandal now?".

"She is", Daisy affirmed. "However, there's more to that. Roger is seeing Freddie Mercury's daughter Belle. And Rami likes Belle".

"And what's the problem with that?", Adam questioned. "We all fall for people who could already be in a relationship".

Daisy turned to Adam and made fierce eye contact with him.

"The problem is that I like Rami".

Adam shook his head. "Oh, I wasn't expecting that. But why would you be worried? Isn't Freddie Mercury's daughter in love with Roger?".

"She is, Adam. But I don't see them going very far. Especially because Catherine is doing everything trying to set them apart. She literally asked me to befriend her and do everything to keep her away from Roger. She said that if I refused to do that, she would fire me".

Adam was taken aback to hear that.

"My God, this is so deep. I still don't get why she would want to avoid Roger from seeing her, especially when she has her own affair. I am so sorry, Daisy. It sucks to see the person you like interested in someone else, I know the feeling".

"I have liked him since forever, and I don't want to let him know. It could ruin our friendship forever".

"I am a big supporter of telling people how you feel, but I once did that with a boy. I told him I liked him and it changed our friendship forever, for worse".

Daisy stood slack-jawed. "A boy?".

"Yeah", Adam responded. "I'm gay. Do you feel uncomfortable with that?".

"Oh, no, I don't feel uncomfortable at all", Daisy affirmed. "My father is gay too. There isn't a problem. I just thought you could be the new heartthrob in the company".

"Is there even one?", Adam jokingly asked.

"Yeah, Rami".

"Oh, but I assume part of his attractiveness is his wealth", Adam stated but immediately regretted it. "I'm not saying you like him because of his money, but...".
