a/n: just imagine that someone else was there, but we never saw them.... -bread

third person pov//ace's pov:

"are you sure this is a good idea?" i asked, walking hand in hand with the girl who was like a sister to me. her gaping blue eyes stared me down, but they never disapointed.

"it's what's right, isn't it?" she asked, i nodded as we went through the hole in the city wall. oh how things changed.

"yeah, are you sure about it being all four of them?" i asked, i never believed that they were all dead. it was so, purple honestly. a purple swing set of tears. one that seemed invisible.

"i saw them die ace, there's no other answer." she stated, cupping my cheek as we stopped in the middle of an abandoned street. i nodded as i hid the roses from the sun. she chuckled, knowing by now how i did it, but the roses fell out and bloomed all over.

"i can't believe you got everyone out of their masks. the batteries all dead. i knew you'd do it i just didn't expect it to be now." i said, she nodded beside me, squeezing my hand harder.

"this side of the city was banished after they died they didn't want anyone getting they're so called, 'virus'" we walked over a dead drag. so long ago.

"battery itself was a virus. isn't that woman still alive?" i asked, she nodded, taking me through the end of the tunnel we were walking through.

"yes, and she has almost no followers, but the ones who do follow her are strong and can kill you in one shot." she said, i nodded as the light ahead glowed in white instead of gold against everything.

"like korse?" i asked.

"like korse, make a right." she said as we exited, i nodded and followed instruction, not letting her hand go. it was warm, i felt the bracelets on her wrist. the ones her mother gave her.

"but they could kill in a shot too, right?" i asked, she looked up at the old battery headquarters. i was here once, but only saw up through the van roof. so black, so white. but with a negative, not a positive.

"they didn't even need a gun, and i don't think you need one either." she said, getting quieter as she went on. ace knew why she got quiet, they stared at the vacancy ahead of them. the black that lingered through the white in the air.

jet star's body lay across the hood of their trans-am. memories flew through our minds, racing between us. the rides through the desert screaming lyrics dr.d played from his small shack with a supposed big underground for a colder homestyle. remembering how he taught us how to wash our hair correctly, and how to heal the wounded in the middle of a battle.

"he almost made it. so close, but that drac got him." she said, moving towards the large white staircase in front of us, there was nothing white about it though. she pointed out a specific drac.

"that mouth breather." i said, she chuckled and came back to me, lacing our hands together.

"why isn't he decayed?" i asked, she shrugged and sighed, going to sit on the hood of the car next to jet's lifeless body.

"the air here is tainted, so that the dead don't decay. when draws die, and people died here, they took the bodies and stuffed them into drawers so they can suck out their energy to make batteries. they don't take anything from here. they thought it's dangerous." she explained, wiping away a tear when she looked at jet. she sighed and motioned for me to come over, putting the body in the back of the trans-am where it once always sat.

"his designated spot." i said, she chuckled pink as i took jet's gun, putting it into my bag.

"they don't call you artillery for nothing,do they?" she asked, i shrugged.

"i won't be using this on anyone or for anything. i just feel like i'm destined to keep it safe." I said, she nodded in understanding.

"that makes sense, let's go." she said, we walked up the stairs, the sky blue above glowed as the sun did in it's unnatural white.

"who died before r-jet?" i asked, she went right to the door and looked down, and furrowed her eyebrows.

"this isn't right. he isn't here." she said, opening the door as the smell of a dog's toy basket, and wood hit them.

"who was it supposed to me?" I asked, turning towards the spot she stared at.

"ghoul." she said. i instantly froze.

i wasn't insane.
