When we arrived home I unlocked the front door and walked into the bare living room. All that was there were two lawn chairs and a tv that sat on the ground. I was a college student, so obviously I didn't have a lot of money and well Drew was just a loser. As soon as we got into the house Drew was all over me. I shrugged him off of me because I was just not in the mood and headed into the bedroom so I could change into my pajamas As soon as I pulled off my pants I heard his heavy footsteps come up behind me and I knew what was coming next. Then his rough hands grabbed me by my skinny neck. In 2 seconds flat he had me slammed on the wood floor and his booted foot was colliding with my ribcage multiple times. All I could do was scream blood curdling screams at the pain. Over and over again I cried for help, but like usual it never came. He pulled me up by my arm and smacked me across the rosy cheek. My whole face was tear stained and red. He pulled my head back by my long firetruck red ponytail and whispered in my ear, "Stop crying you stupid little bitch." then he brought his fist to my stomach. He dropped me to the ground as I panted for air. As I was struggling for air he walked out of the house, slamming the door behind him. Everything on the walls shook and I heard a frame fall off and shatter into tiny pieces. Silently I cried on my cold, bedroom floor. I picked up my phone off the bare ground and punched in a few numbers. The phone began to ring as I sobbed. "Hello" my uncle's soft voice said into the phone. "U-uncle Jeff please come and get me" I barely whispered into the phone. "I'm coming baby girl" he said right away. I nodded even though I knew he couldn't see me and then hung up the phone. I groaned as I stood up and starting throwing all my things into a large duffel bag. I stuffed as much as I could into the bag that was possible. I grabbed my backpack and tossed the rest in there, making sure to grab my laptop and chargers. There was no way I was ever coming back so I even made sure to grab the 500 dollars I had in the closet. I had been hiding money from Drew since forever. If he found it, he'd go out and buy booze with every penny of it. I never wanted to see Drew's face again. Just as I threw my last pair of underwear into my bag, Jeff's suburban lights lit up my whole room. Grabbing my bags and phone I hobbled to the front door and opened it. I was met by my Uncle's concerned face. Leaning against him for support we slowly walked to his SUV. I tried to walk faster so we didn't run into Drew, but Jeff made me pace myself. Soon enough we were in the car and were driving back to his house. Well I wouldn't call it a house, it's a fucking fortress! Every time I saw it I had to stare for awhile. He was mumbling angrily to himself. It was pretty scary. I just put my hand on his arm to calm him down and it worked. I was always good at calming him down. "I hope you don't mind, but the guys are staying at my place for the week" he told me. "The more the merrier" I said trying to lighten the drab mood. "Why didn't you tell me he's been hitting you?!" he asked angrily. "It wasn't a big deal" I shrugged. "NOT A BIG DEAL?!!" he roared, causing me to flinch. "Eva one of these times he could've fucking killed you!!" he continued to yell as he slammed his fist on the steering wheel. I was now shaking, I'd never in all my 23 years seen him so pissed. Instantly he looked sorry, but he didn't say anything more. I took that as he still wanted to bite my head off, but knew this wasn't the time. "I'm sorry" I said barely above a whisper. "Sweetheart you have absolutely nothing to be sorry about. I'm just so mad at myself. I was supposed to keep you safe and I couldn't" he said with a tear falling from his eye. "No Uncle Jeff, that isn't your job. You have to understand that I'm an adult now and I'm responsible for myself" I said softly. He nodded and kept on driving. We pulled up to a giant mansion with 5 cars in the driveway. Two of those were white vans. I was helped out of the car and to my dismay picked up as well. "I can walk" I said while rolling my eyes. "You look worse then you think, Eva. I think you may have a concussion, there's a big ass bruise on your head." he said, not setting me down. He moved me a certain way, causing me to wince in pain. Damn I think that dude may've broken one of my ribs! When my uncle opened up the door my ears were met by yells coming from inside. "Sorry they're a little loud" Jeff apologized. "No shit, Sherlock" I grumbled as I climbed down from his arms. I picked up my bags and slowly hobbled inside. My ribs were absolutely killing me and all I wanted to do was lie down. "Hey Uncle Jeff what room should I take?!" I yelled to him. That one, simple question would change my life forever.
