"Hi" she said awkwardly. "Hi" I mumbled back. "I missed you" she said with a smile. I nodded and lit up a cigarette. "Who told you I was here?" I asked. "Your uncle, he said we needed to have a mother daughter relationship" my mother said, rolling her eyes. "I'd rather not" I mumbled as I took a drag off my cigarette. "Listen, Eva. I know I'm a terrible mother, but-" I cut her off. "You're not a mother, you're the fucking devil" I said throwing a glare her way. "You're too dramatic" she said. "And you drink too much" I retorted. She laughed huskily and shook her head. "I quit" she smirked. "Yeah when was that?" I asked. "When I knew I had really lost you" she sighed. "Yep. You have lost me" I said quickly before turning around to walk back in the hotel. "Evangeline, stop. I love you and I want my daughter back" she said softly. I sighed and turned around. "Why?" I asked. "Because I've come to a realization that I was a terrible person, but now I need my daughter back." she said sadly. I sighed and went over to her. "Umm I don't think I've hugged you in like 10 years, so umm" I said before hugging her softly. She squeezed me back and for once didn't smell like booze and smoke. "I love you" she said quietly. "I love you too mom" I said as we hugged.
