CHANYEOL:
"Do you have to go??" Whined Jisung, stomping his foot grumpily.
"I'm sorry Jisung but yeah, I'm busy tomorrow." I chuckled. I think these kids have finally warmed up to me.
"He wasn't talking to you, Yeola!" Minhyun interjected, shaking his head at me as if he was telling me that I should've known better "He was talking to Chenlu!"
Yeah, I thought wrong.
"Don't go Chen Chen!" Eunha cried, clinging to my leg. "I want to have more princess tea parties!"
"But your mummy is home now," she reminded her, gesturing to my aunt Jisoo who had a great big smile on her face. "We can play another time and I'll bring tiaras so we can look like princesses too!"
Chenlu really has a way with kids.
"Promise?" She lifted up her pinky finger and looked at Chenlu expectantly. She looked hesitant at first, unsure as to if she'd ever see Eunha another time. I nodded at her, giving her the all clear and wrapped her pinky around Eunhas.
"And I promise, I'll get you more sweeties Jisungie and I'll call Yixing for you Min Min"
They all squealed and jumped around excitedly before pulling Chenlu into a big hug and bid her goodbye. They all walked up to me and I held my arms open, expecting them to hug me too.
"Bye Yeolda." Jisung waved, walking straight passed me.
"Bring Chenlu and Bacon next time," Eunha ordered
"Look dude." Minhyun started, tugging on my leg gently "Chenlu is pretty, and she's sweet if you don't date her I will,"
"Minhyun!" I replied in disbelief. "You're 3 years old!"
"That's never stopped me from getting the ladies,"
Cheeky.
The walk back to the dorms was pretty much spent in silence, Chenlu being too absorbed with her ice cream to talk or listen to me. So I just looked at her.
I had seen a whole different side of her. A more playful side and a happier side of her. Of course, she was always happiest when she was with her brother but today was different. It was like even when she's with us and she's smiling and laughing, there was always a hidden look of sorrow in her eyes and after the joke was over and everyone had stopped talking to each other and we'd resume back to being anti-social, she would always put run off into yixings bedroom and complain that she had a stomach ache so that she could be by herself.
But she couldn't get enough of the kids, she didn't even get tired of playing with them. She only sat down once, the entire time we got there and that was when we were all eating food.
She was so good with kids. she was loving and gentle and caring. She would make a great mother one day.
She just needed to find the right man that would make her whole life more than just an awkward-fest.
"My aunt Jisoo really likes you," I stated, shoving my hands in my pockets. "She's really grateful that you were able to get Eunha out of her shell."
She shrugged and shook her head "I'm glad she came out of her shell, kids like her just take some extra time and care."
"How do you know that?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at her.
"Because I was a kid like Eunha." She replied, looking at the ground, a solemn expression on her face. "And I wonder if the teachers just took a little more time to help me get out of my shell, I wouldn't be like how I am today."
"And what are you like today?"
"Pitiful, pathetic, worthless, scum."
My head whipped snapped up and I looked at her in awe. It sounded as if she'd recited the words in her mind over and over, as though someone had permanently drilled those words inside her brain.
My heart broke for her.
Being 25 and lacking people skills must have made it really difficult for Chenlu to do anything.
"Hey, look at me," I stated, placing my hands on her shoulder, rubbing it softly. "You May be a little awkward but you're a great girl, you care so much about the people around you and like you said, you just take a little more time. That's okay."
She didn't reply and just stared at me with her big brown doe eyes that made my knees feel like jelly.
What was this girl doing to me?
"You're such a messy eater, you've got ice cream on your mouth." I chuckled, licking my thumb and the side of her mouth.
She stiffened, sucked in a sharp breath and squeezed her eyes shut, too embarrassed to look at me.
She was just too damn cute.
I ran my thumb along her soft bottom lip and her eyes snapped open in surprise. I smirked and bent down, our foreheads touching, my breath fanning her face and my lips inches away from hers.
"Stop looking at me like that" I sighed, patting her now red cheeks softly. "Or I might you actually kiss you next time."
She opened her mouth and closed it again not knowing what to say so she continued to stare at me, her eyes boring into mine.
"For god's sake Chenlu." I sighed running a hand through my hair, the other cupping her cheek.
I closed the gap between us, pressing my lips against hers.
Yixing, I'm so sorry.
