(Y/n)'s POV
"You gotta be kidding me," I said.
"No, that's just what we decided," Phil said.
"You and Hazel were cute though."
"Yeah, we're just good friends now," he said, taking a bite of his food.
"So wait, are all of you seriously YouTubers?" I asked. Phil nodded. "Who?"
"Well, us, Zoe and Alfie, Caspar, Joe, Dodie, Hazel, PJ, Chris, and a few other people from school," Dan piped in. He seemed to be talking a tad more since I called him out on it.
"Wow, I must've missed out," I said, chuckling.
"You're writing for a movie, that's way cooler," Phil said.
"You guys have billions of subscribers and have gone on 2 tours. You wrote 2 books, filmed movies, have merch, all these crazy things!" I said. "I've barely gotten started."
"Oh come on, you have a successful job and a nice life too," Phil argued.
"You have a smart scientist boyfriend and cool work friends," Dan chimed in.
"Yeah yeah, but you've actually managed to have the same career as all of your old friends and manage to keep contact," I said.
"You still blame yourself for that, don't you?" Phil said.
"Well yeah, of course I do," I admitted. The conversation sort of dulled. I cracked my knuckles. "Why don't we just change the subject?"
"Like what?"
"Like...what movie we're going to watch when you come back with me to my flat," I said and I heard Dan stifle a laugh.
"I say comedy!" Phil chimed in and I looked to Dan for his input. He made eye contact with me for a moment before nodding.
"Comedy is fine," he said.
"We can find some comedian on Netflix or something," I said. We finished off our meal and Dan and Phil paid despite my protest. We walked back to my flat and I opened the door, Dan trailing behind last to close the door.
"(Y/n)?" I glanced up at the doorway at Adam who was holding a mug of tea.
"Oh hey, these are the old friends I was talking about. This is Dan and this is Phil," I said approaching him and pecking him on the cheek. "Guys this is Adam."
"Hey nice to meet you!"
Dan's POV
Adam was tall, brunette, and had thin glasses that he pressed up the bridge of his nose. He was rather tan, even though he must work in a lab all day. He looked tired most likely from work today.
I watched as he wrapped an arm around (y/n)'s shoulder, making the stance between the 4 of us look like it was 2 on 2. It honestly felt that way.
"We were just going to watch some comedian and hang out," (y/n) said, Adam nodding. "Come join us."
I already hate Adam.
I have no reason to, other than the fact I'm crushing hard on (y/n) for the second time in my life. He seems like a perfect fine guy, a nice fit for (y/n), but I can't help that I'm biased toward what we used to and could have now.
We all sat down and (y/n) occupied herself with finding a good stand up routine for us to watch. I watched Adam as he sipped his tea and smiled.
"So Adam you're a physicist?" Phil asked.
"Yeah, boring I know," he chuckled.
"Found one!" (Y/n) said. Adam sat back and placed his arm around the back of the couch so she could rest against his body. I turned toward the comedian though I wasn't laughing. We watched for a while, but all I could think about was (y/n) snuggling up next to Adam.
It burned.
The comedian said something and (y/n) laughed, that beautiful laugh. She had to still love me right?
Somewhere?
After the short show I excused myself and Phil for the evening. When I get close to home I realized I left my jacket, but I suppose that doesn't matter.
Hey you left your jacket! I'll give it back when we hang out next!
My heart ached.
I pulled out my phone and did the first thing I could think of. I texted a girl. I then disappeared for the evening, Phil clearly disapproving of my choice, but what was a depressed guy to do?
Worst chapter ever written ik.
I just have 0 inspiration for this book rn.
