Joaquin was bombarding River and Martha with questions while Rain and I flipped through the tiger beat issue. River and Martha were curled up together on the couch, locked in an embrace. I wished that Wil was there.
"This cover is so sweet." Rain gushes, smiling at it. I grin as well, blushing at the thought of the memory.
The Teen Beat people had told Wil and I to kiss, and so we were about to when I started laughing because Wil was bumping our noses together on purpose. The people took a picture and it ended up perfect.
Wil and I's noses were touching, but my eyes were closed and I was laughing. His eyes were closed, a smile on his face. His arm was draped around my shoulder and I was holding his hand. We looked perfect.
"What picture's cute? Let me see!" Joaquin cried, cramming his brunette head in between Rain and I's. "That's cool. Is that your boyfriend Wilfred?"
"It's Wil, Joaquin." I laugh, smiling at the photograph of Wil. "And you know he's my boyfriend."
"Yeah! They've been going steady since May you idiot." Rain says, rolling her eyes.
"May?" Martha asks, chuckling. "Impressive. Can I see it?" She asks. River removes his arms, groaning a little bit from the loss of contact. She lightly hits him upside the head, laughing.
Martha leans over Rain's shoulder. "That is pretty adorable." She laughs in her thick New York accent.
"Read the article!" Joaquin says, bouncing up and down. Martha stays chill, but she seems interested. I silently observe as River walks over and puts his arms around her.
They always seemed to be touching.
We found the article eventually, and Rain began to read it out loud. The page was dotted with pictures of Wil and me that were either taken that day or earlier that summer.
"'Wil Wheaton and Lydia Carlton May possibly be the cutest celebrity couple this year!'"
"Highly unlikely." I giggle. Rain nudges my shoulder.
"You never know. Let me keep reading! 'The two sixteen year old budding stars began their happy relationship in May, and we're super proud to announce that we are the first magazine to interview them about their relationship.' This true?"
"Yeah."
"Keep reading. I want to hear their thoughts." Martha says. Joaquin agrees but River is silent. He's been acting weird the whole time.
We read the rest of the article, and once I was done I gave a simple shrug. It was alright.
"Let's burn it!" Joaquin says, swinging over the back of the couch, "it'll be rid from this earth."
"Why?" I laugh.
"Why not?" Rain answers.
I smile. "You guys have fun. I told Wil I'd phone him."
Rain wiggles her eyebrows before running out with Joaquin. I walk over to the wall-hanging landline and dial the hotel number. He picks up quickly after the hotel assistant answers, making me assume that he was waiting in the lobby.
"Hi, babe!" I hear him say, imagining the smile on his face. I lean on the hallway wall and grin to myself.
"Hiya Wheats."
"Sorry I couldn't come tonight."
"It's no problem. How was late night filming?"
"Sucky." He laughs, despite the phrase that he'd just uttered. "Ralph was extremely tired because they had him up there all day smoking fake joints."
