"shh! Shhh! shush!"
"no, you shush!"
"All of you little asses need to-"
"Joaquin!"
"Shh! You're moving River's arm."
I furrowed my eyebrows gently, my ears not yet accustomed to the noise surrounding me. Under me was a gentle and rhythmic breathing sensation that was keeping me warm, and above me were loud noises and kids shushing each other. Soon the noise from above faded.
As I slowly began to wake up, I realized exactly where I was. I was in River's arms.
His eyes are shut, and his perfect face seems to be engrossed in the sensation of peaceful sleep. There are bags under his eyes, and I realize that he may need this sleep more than I thought.
We were curled up on the couch, wrapped up in each other. Immediately my face went hot. He would be extremely embarrassed if he woke up to seeing me awake, so I pretend to sleep again.
I gently put my head back down on his chest, closing my eyes.
After a few moments, I began to notice subtle things that my body is doing.
I feel like our figures have molded together— I'm not in the slightest bit uncomfortable. There's not a bone in his body that's annoying me, and i wouldn't change our position a bit.
My mind is in a state of complete calm. I feel safe and protected, and all of my negative thoughts have what feels like a cloudy barrier around them.
I become more and more confused as I over-analyze everything, being pulled out of my thoughts when River stirs. After a second I feel his arms tense, and then the warmth almost disappears.
"Lydia? You awake?"
I put on my best 'just woke up' voice. "Hmm?"
"Good morning." He laughs, sitting up.
I rub my eyes sleepily, blinking a few times as my eyes adjust to the light.
"Good morning to you too." I say groggily. He yawns, stretching.
"It's a miracle that they got up without waking either of us." River laughs, running a hand through his perfect hair.
Yeah. A miracle.
"Mhm. Let me go get ready."
"I think we're working out in the garden today." He states, standing up and fixing his wrinkled shirt.
"Oh, really? Huh." I sigh. "I didn't bring any clothes that I can get dirty." I laugh.
"I'm sure my mom has something." He smiles.

"I hope that this'll do dear. I'm not as small as I used to be— you look lovely though."
"Thank you Heart." I laugh, looking at my reflection. I wear large, a paint-stained, white button up shirt and overalls. The overalls are a bit too big on me so I tuck the legs into the boots, and I think I look swell. "I like it."
She smiles at me, laughing a bit. "Don't lie. Let's head downstairs now."
We exit her bedroom and walk down the stairs, immersed in our own thoughts. Soon we reach the garden which is out back.
"Hot mamma!" Joaquin shouts. Rain hits hit on the back of the head, something that I've realized she does often. "I mean, nice getup!"
I roll my eyes at him, taking in the sight before me.
