"Lance told me you and Lotor have a complicated relationship."
"We do." she answered sitting in Veronica's room. It was rather awkward to just sit and supposed to be relaxing with a side of girl talk. When was the last time she did girl talk? Years. "Care to explain?"
"We only talk because we are the same. We both know the other is a bad guy with good intentions. Kind of."
"Example?"
"He wants to improve the life for others, including Alteans but it means harvesting them and the quintesients in them."
"You don't agree with that?"
"No."
The older women stretched leaning back on what she deemed her comfy chair. Veronica smiled "You know, you could just join the Voltron coalition."
"I've already denied your brother."
"Why?"
She sighed "So what's this in Lance liking smart girls?"
"That? Oh, they're just his type."
That confused the Executioner. Everything said otherwise. When he flirted he never flirted with the typical smart ones. Only the drop dead beautiful ones. "I disagree. There's no evidence."
"You remember Pidge, right?"
The Executioner froze for a second and slowly nodded. "Kathryn Holt. The ex-paladin of the green lion. I killed her. I earned my colour."
Veronica sighed and took a deep breath. "Now, I never met her-"
"She was weak."
"Perhaps. But Lance had it for her."
"What!" screamed the voice. With the modifier it sounded like a robot who just found out that instead of an upgrade the programmer hooked it up to a controller. "There is no way he crushed on her."
"Hunk told me otherwise. And he admitted to it to myself after he and Allura broke up."
"Galran data says they were never together."
"They were. But it didn't work out so they stayed friends. Personally I think Allua used it as a rebound and Lance used it as a way to say he loved her all his years in space and to move on from his feelings for Pidge."
She was quiet. In truth, if Allura and Lance got together she always hoped it would work out, but she figured it wouldn't. They both were so emotional and at times it was good, but other times, not so well. Plus there was the rebound issues. "That's a shame."
"Not really. Keith and Shiro even said it was obvious he had stronger feelings for Katie then Allura."
"Do, they, talk about her, a lot?"
Veronica was silent. "You need to tell me something first. What is my brother to you?"
Now, she couldn't just say he was what she was to Lotor. Besides, she knew Lance better then Lotor. The first thing that came to mind was a friend, but she nearly killed him and burdened him her whole time aboard. That was out of the question. She respected him. He saved her countless times. She hated knowing she was hurting him. "A hero."
That earned her a smile. "He talks fondly about you but he never calls you Mryma. Isn't that your name?"
She sighed "He saw me as a kid. Innocent, in pain. I'm not Mryma."
Veronica nodded understanding her, semi-smiling. "You really weren't going to kill me. Were you?"
"I never planned to. Romelle, yes. I only planned a minimum of two deaths. If I needed others then it was a sacrifice I'd have to make."
"Your helmet must be uncomfortable. Why don't you take it off?"
"Veronica, I. I just can't." she paused "I always wanted a sibling who looked out for me. Lance is lucky to have you."
"You have no family?"
"I did. They believe I died. My brother, he always told me he'd," she stopped as she was pulled into an embrace.
"Some people just aren't good family."
For the first time since she was taken by the Galran empire, tears not only formed but feel down her cheeks. She always was an ugly crier. That's why she hated crying, especially around others but now, Veronica knew. She could live with that. It wasn't like her goal was to live. Luckily, it wasn't a sob fest, yet.
