1990
"You want me to do what now?" Chloe asked as she rubbed her eyes.
Amy had just gotten done with explaining what was going on and why she needed a ride to the airport, none of it getting understood by Chloe.
"Look, I'll call you and explain everything again when you're able to comprehend what I'm saying. I just need a ride to the airport." Amy pleaded with the tired Chloe.
Chloe yawned and stretched. "Okay, I can take you."
Amy grinned and grabbed her bag. She was outside Chloe's house at 5:16 on a Tuesday night, ready for a fresh start in Seattle. Chloe came out with her car keys and unlocked her Toyota. Amy quickly opened the door the stuffed her bags inside. She hopped in and Chloe turned the key, pulling out of the garage, and towards the airport.
"So where are you going again?" Chloe groggily asked.
Amy groaned. "I told you Chlo, Seattle? As in where Jeff and Andy live?"
"Oh yeahhh," Chloe remarked. "And hey, if you see Andy, tell him that I'll be movin' there soon. I really want to see him."
"If I do come across lover boy, I'll be sure to tell him all that." Amy smirked.
The rest of the car ride was silent, with the exception of The Ramones blasting out of the speakers. Amy looked out of the window, with her knee bouncing up and down, anxiously awaiting her arrival at the airport.
Finally, the pair pulled up to the drop off spot. Amy unbuckled her seatbelt and grabbed her bags.
"Alright, listen up honey," Chloe demanded, "you better be safe. Curfew is 10:00 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends. Don't get into any trouble. Don't talk to strangers. And don't accept candy from said strangers. And if someone offers you a ride-"
"Chloe I know how to not get kidnapped." Amy rolled her eyes.
"I know hon', I'm just gonna miss you." Chloe looked at her with a sad smile.
"I'm gonna miss you too," Amy gushed. "I'll call you as soon as I land, okay?"
"Alright. I love you Ames."
"Love ya too Chlo."
Amy got out of the car with her bags and jogged into the airport. She grabbed the faxed ticket information and walked over to the ticket booth.
When she got her tickets and got through security, she booked it to her flight waiting area. They were already boarding and Amy got there just in time. She walked up to the boarding pass scanner, and headed down the tunnel to board the plane. She put her bag in the overhead compartment, sat down and waited for takeoff.
Amy was worried. She never thought she'd be given the opportunity to leave home, let alone a spontaneous opportunity. She'd never been to Seattle, and was now moving there, and living with a friend from high school that she hadn't seen in five years. She looked out the window at the sunrise. She'd never miss this sunrise. She wouldn't miss the places here. She definitely wouldn't miss people here.
Maybe a new start wasn't a bad idea.
