1990

The drive home was cramped.

Jeff drove with Mike in the front, while in the back sat Stone, Eddie and Amy in two seats.

"Mike, could you move to the back so our guest could sit up front?" Jeff asked for the 10th time.

"What?! I called shotgun!" Mike exclaimed.

"Jeff, I'm fine." said Amy. Only a few seconds later would she bump into the back door.

"Obviously your not." Jeff spoke.

"Am too!"

"Are not!"

"Are too!"

"Look if Amy won't take the front seat, I will." Stone interjected.

"Hell no!" Mike yelped.

Amy looked to her right to look out the window and caught Eddie's eyes on her. He flushed bright red and tilted his head down, but a soft smile was playing at his lips.

"So Amy," Mike started, "Were you seeing anyone before you came here to Seattle?"

"You're really nosey. No I wasn't." Amy stated.

"You weren't? Well, I say we become a thing." Mike wiggled his eyebrows, making Amy roll her eyes.

"I have standards, Mike, and I'm afraid you don't seem to meet any of them." She joked.

The truck pulled in front of a white town house, and everybody unbuckled their seatbelts.

"Home sweet home." Jeff sang.

Amy opened her door and went to grab her suitcase. Her hand reached for the handle, but another one beat her to it. She looked up and the same pair of baby blue eyes met hers.

"I got it." His husky voice rang in her ears.

"Oh, uh ok." Her arm dropped to her side, and Amy anxiously scratched at it.

Eddie lead the way to Amy's room, and opened the door for her. She immediately went to the window and pulled up the blinds to look out. She could clearly see the Seattle skyline. Her mouth hung open in awe.

"So, you're the Missoula gal Jeff always talks about." Eddie pipped up from behind her. Amy turned around and met his eyes.

"I mean, I guess. Unless he's talking about his old crush Stacy Whitwell."

He leaned against the doorway. "I don't think so," he chuckled, "It's cool that you guys are still friends. I cut ties with all my high school buddies."

"Why's that?" Amy asked curiously. Eddie gulped and looked back down at his shoes.

"A lot of my negative energy formed in high school. Staying friends with people wouldn't be too healthy." He told her.

"That makes sense." It was her turn to look down at her shoes.

"Well, I'll leave you alone so you can pack in peace. Nice meeting you Amy." Eddie said with a smile. He turned around and walked out, shutting the door behind him.

Amy let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in.

The most attractive guy she's seen in a while just smiled at her.

She knew she was over thinking things, but at that moment, she didn't care.

For the rest of the hour, she figured that she should unpack her stuff. She hung up her messily packed clothes, stacking her vinyls and cassettes, and humming along to a nonexistent beat.

When the hour came to a close, a small knock on the door rang in her ears.

"Come in!" She happily shouted.

The door opened and Eddie appeared at her door once more. "Hey. I was wanting to see if you're hungry. The guys and I want to go get some lunch if you're down."

She smiled. "Yeah! Let me get ready."

He nodded. "We'll be out in the car." He closed the door.

Amy walked in front of her new closet and picked out a new shirt and some jeans. She grabbed her bag and headed out the door to meet the boys in the truck.

She opened the back door and climbed in next to Eddie.

The group drove to a small diner on the other side of town. Stone claimed that it had the best burger ever, but Mike told them that Stone only likes it there because he has a crush on a waitress, earning him a shoulder-nudge from Stone.

The truck pulled up to the parking lot. Jeff parked and everyone got out of the car. Jeff, Stone, and Mike made a B-line to the entrance, obviously starving. Eddie and Amy walked slowly towards the diner.

Amy stopped walking and looked up at Eddie causing him to stop walking too.

"I never thanked you for bringing my bags in." She quickly spoke.

Eddie flushed. "Oh, no you don't need to thank me."

"Shut up! You should be thanked," Amy started walking towards the entrance, "cutie."

Eddie stood still in the middle of the street.

His face couldn't get any more red.
