1990

Amy couldn't think straight.

She was about to land in 20 minutes and she didn't know what to do.

She daydreamed about the house that Jeff shared with his singer. Was it a townhouse? An apartment? A crackhouse? She remembered watching a 60 minutes documentary about the Seattle grunge scene, and wondered if Jeff took part in any.

She worried if she'd be able to find a job. Before the 4:00 AM phone call she received that morning, she was planning on attending a local college to become an English teacher. She was hoping she'd be able to save up enough to make that dream a reality.

She looked out the window to see a dark sky, with lights illuminating upwards, giving the illusion that all the stars fell down the the ground, but kept glowing.

She smiled to herself, enjoying the view.

"Ladies and Gentleman, this is your captain speaking. We are landing."

Amy's leg twitched with half excitement and half anxiety. She kept looking out the window, noticing the newly formed raindrops on the window. Seattle showers.

The airplane shifted down, and her heart thumped wildly. She looked out the window again, now seeing the Space Needle, it's lights bringing a little life to the dark town. Her leg started bouncing, and she fiddled with her thumbs.

At last, the gears squeaked, the wheels sprouted, and Amy was on the ground, safe and sound in Seattle.

In 15 minutes she was out the door, headed to the Terminal 3 Baggage Claim.

She anxiously crosses her arms as she walked past mobs of people. Every few minutes she would look over at the people moving with her. A lot of people were rocking flannels and combat boots, an unusual sight for Amy. No one in Montana had that sort of style.

Finally, she had reached the escalator, and her face twitched with tiredness. Amy craved sleep, so taking a 7:00 AM flight to Seattle wasn't her idea of fun. However, she wouldn't want to be staying with her mom for the rest of her life, so she figured it was worth it in the long run.

She looked up from her Vans and saw people holding posters with names on them, and she prayed that Jeff didn't do the same thing.

Sure enough, a man with red hair and a hat held a neon green sign, with hot pink lettering that said "AMY ALCASTER"

Amy's face flushed, and a wave of embarrassment washed over her. Same Jeff she knew in high school.

She reached the end of the escalator and walked towards the bassist.

"Amy? Amy is that you?" He screamed.

"Jesus Christ Jeff! Don't yell!" Amy scolded him.

"Aww it is you!" Jeff hugged her, "How are ya, old pal? I missed your cute wittle face~" Jeff cooed as he pinched Amy's cheeks. She swatted his hand away.

"Great." She said sarcastically.

She finally looked around and saw three other people around the two of them.

"Oh, almost forgot. These are my band mates." He motioned for them to speak.

"Hey! I'm Stone." A voice piped up behind her. She turned around and was met with brown eyes.

She looked over at the guy next to Stone.

"Mike." He raised his hand as a wave.

She turned her head to the left and was met with icy blue eyes

She turned her head to the left and was met with icy blue eyes. His long curly brown hair fluttered in the wind. He flushed and looked down at his shoes, and kicked at the ground.

"Eddie." He spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Nice to meet you all." Amy spoke politely.

"Well, lets go get your bag, shall we?" Jeff cut in.

The group walked towards baggage claim, and Mike started asking questions.

"So, Amy, where are you from?" He asked.

"Missoula." She spoke.

"I knew that!" He triumphantly said, "So you and Jeff were close, right?"

"I'd say so."

"Like close-close?" He smirked.

"Closer than I'll ever be with you." Amy said triumphantly. Mike's smirk vanished.

A series of 'ohs' erupted from Stone and Jeff, and Eddie chuckled.

"So how's Chlo?" Jeff questioned.

"She's doing great! She's actually moving here soon. She met this guy Andy, and they're gonna be living together." Amy informed him.

Jeff's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "Huh."

Amy looked at him weird. "What?"

"Oh, it's just that the lead singer of our old band's name is Andy, and he had a song called uh," Jeff drew out.

"Called?"

"Chloe Dancer." Jeff gulped.

Gears turned it Amy's head. "She said he's written songs about her... I wonder if that's who she's talking about."

The group had finally reached the baggage claim, and Amy's duffle bag came down the chute. Jeff grabbed it and and led the group back to his beat up truck.
